I think this points out a much more glaring problem in our country. That living in the here and now and grasping at money is the way to do things. not vote in 2008 in exchange for the equivalent of a year's tuition at NYU? I could do a lot more good with the money than a vote. i know i know "if everyone felt like you then it wouldn't even matter that we have elections" Rewind to 2000. it already doesn't matter. Besides they are all, in my opinion, generally the same people with very few key differences in ACTION between reps and dems. bu then again, i think i could have sex with anyone or anything if the money was right, i know that i can be bought. |

Ya know, honestly .... when I think of this in terms of the lives that have been lost to protect this right, there's no way I'd take it.
Yeah .... I'd turn it down too. I wouldn't even think twice about it just because my pride and integrety is worth way more than that, and those lives were worth infinatley more than that even ... Uhg. Now that I think about it, I can't believe I said I'd take it. I bet my grand dad rolled over in his grave when he "head" me type that hahaha -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

If you honestly feel that we live in a true democracy governed by the people and your vote/opinion matters that much, that is another story, but the truth is we don't live in this utopian democratic society (how else could we still be in Iraq when the publics support is overwhelmingly against it?)... Also, if you think that other generations wouldn't do the same thing, you would be sorely mistaken (I'm sure a lot of our great great grandparents would have given up their right to vote to find Gold out West!). Greed has been prevalent regardless of what century you live in... And on the whole "all the people died to give me that right" I would image that the soldiers who are indirectly protecting our right to vote would/would have personally give(n) up their voting rights in return for a guaranteed safe passage home...everyone has their price... --------------------  |
