This is in response to Will's initial post about 13 year olds not having anything to be depressed about. I was 13 when I first knew that I was depressed but didn't get any help for it. My best friend had just passed away from Leukemia and my parents were going through a divorce. My grandmother would tell my brother and I that we were mistakes, bastard children, etc. almost on a weekly basis. So yes, that may be my story, and I know that everyone has different ones, but not every 13 year old was concerned with picking up frogs or baseball cards. My depression lasted about 7 years, when I finally got help and medication. My parents never knew that I was depressed until I called them one night from Lubbock crying.
