What would you recommend for a good laptop computer? I'm looking to buy one, but don't know what to get. I don't need anything crazy gaming-powerful (I have a desktop rig for that), but I don't want a P.O.S. either. I'm thinking a MacBook would be nice, but Dell has good value, too.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I'm thinking strongly of getting a Macbook Pro, but I'm not 100% positive yet.

Nope, I didn't. I asked about laptops, but I haven't actually gotten one yet.

You lose 1000 internet cool points for a lack of originality.

Moving on... people made some suggestions here when I asked: http://www.techsans.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=4387. Toshiba seemed to be the consensus if you were looking for a Windows laptop.

I find that most of the Toshiba laptops end up weighing like 10 lbs LOL I owned one my last year at tech, and god it was heavy.

My advice: go with the 1299 white macbook. It's the exact same thing as the black one but is white and costs $200 less (and I think it has a little less hard drive space). Unless of course you're just deadset on getting black. (it is pretty cool that it doesn't show fingerprints and dirt as much)

Yeah, im kinda set on the black one....it's always been the one I've wanted. I would like to save the bit of money, but I want that black casing LOL And yeah, it just has 40 more gigs of HD space.

So, I am planning on taking the plunge on Sunday morning! And I am buying it at Best Buy so I can get DOUBLE reward zone points, and earn a $30 gift card. That should pay for a few little accessories!

One more bit of advice: If you're going to get an extended warranty, get AppleCare, not Best Buy's plan. It's a lot cheaper and it covers more. Not to mention that you'll be able to take it to any Apple Authorized Service Provider instead of Best Buy.

Yep, that's the plan. I am gonna wait a month or two and go back to an Apple Store and buy the Applecare since I can buy it anytime within the first year.
