The haze you saw over Denver this weekend was smoke from the California wildfires. The jet stream goes right over CO and as a consequence they get all the pollution from California. CO is one of the most polluted states because of this. It was here last time as well, just not as bad. It's a grey cloud when I drive in at 6:45am and can clearly see it, this week it just seems thick (the fires explain that), I was just wondering why it was always so smoggy. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

I know a few people have lived/visited there. I haven't been to Denver since I was a kid and don't remember anything about it. What's it like? Fun place to live? How are the property values? Traffic? What is there to do? And I'm not talking about places to get drunk, I'm talking about places to hike, museums, restaurants, etc. I'm looking for honest opinions, not "I went there for three days last winter and it sucked." Reason I'm asking is cause I might be moving there soon Traffic there is a joke. It's fucking terrible. The people on here who dbout this are morons, don't listen to them. It depends on what your version of "fun" is. Living in Denver, if you're the outdoorsey type, it sucks ass, because you STILL have to drive 5 fucking hours to do anything cool, unless you wanna put up with 300,000 other people that same day trying to do it in that same spot. It's expensive as fuck to live there, but it's not as bad as other places. WAY more expensive than texas. My overall take on Denver is, it's fun to visit, but I really wouldn't wanna live there. -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

yeah the haze is from the fires. they talk about it on the local news a lot. two weeks ago the snow capped mountains were awesome. perfectly clear.
i really dont' get the traffic argument. i've never had any problem with it. there's also all sorts of outdoors stuff to do close to the city. i hiked lost creek last weekend and it's about an hour to the campsite. 30 minutes from denver to the wilderness area. even a few 14ers are close. there's a snowboard park that's open in the city and one about 20 minutes outside the city for quick snowboarding. the closest actualy ski resort is 45 minutes if you leave early enough. just depends on what you wanna do. -------------------- Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.

Thanks guys. I might move up there cause my girlfriend is moving there on monday. I don't do long distance stuff and I think she might be worth it. Plus, I got like $75k saved up so I'll have time to get my feet on the ground and find a job.

See, this is the kind of selling point I'm looking for It's not enough to wanna live there. I used to travel to shows there almost monthly. Living there means you have to put up with Greenie assfuck psuedofaggot assmunch fucktards constantly...There are more total douchebags with Land Rovers per capita in Colorado than any other place in the entire universe. Apparently driving on the nicley paved Denver streets requires a wanna-be yuppy psuedo-offroad vehicle. There's a good reason you get rocks thrown at you and all your shit stolen if you have greenie plates and are caught camping in Wyoming -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

I don't mind hippies as long as they don't converse with me. Just point, laugh, and walk away. How close is Denver in proximity to other major towns? I heard Vegas was an hour and a half flight. Probably not drivable due to the mountains -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

Awesome. My choices are Pierre, SD; Lincoln, NE; Santa Fe, NM; and Salt Lake City, UT. At least it's close to Omaha so I could go to the CWS every year -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

I heard Vegas was an hour and a half flight. Probably not drivable due to the mountains Colorado Springs is about a million people these days, and it's an hour south of Denver. Salt Lake City is about 8 hours from Denver. The only "major" city in the entire Rocky Mountain region that isn't in Colorado is Salt Lake..... Pretty much every "major" city in the rockies is in central colorado .... Vegas is about a 10 hour drive from Denver I am estimating. You have to drive on I70 through Grand Junction. I70 through the front range sucks ass up the butt even in GOOD weather. I drove that lugging a 5,000-lb snowmobile trailer around all last winter in frozen blowing snow. It was radical. Hahaha When that road gets shitty, the road itself is pretty bad but what really hoses you on it is the mindless numbers of fuckhead greenies (like I mean tens of thousands of them) that think because they have a 4WD XTerra or Land Rover they can drive 75 mph on shitty mountain roads in 3 feet of snow. You can be driving perfectly safe but it's the ten thousand other greenie fucksticks that aren't that kill you. And don't eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeven get me started on how badly I think the US military needs to nuke Boulder, CO -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

this makes me curious about Boulder CO
And am I the only one that has never had any desire to visit CO...sounds boring and cold. I hate cold. Be careful moving somewhere for someone else. If something goes wrong, there isn't much to fall back on, especially when you move somewhere that far away. |
