I was contacted by a Tech representative who wants me to send them a high resolution copy of a photo I took a while back of Jones Stadium. I'm think it's cool and getting money is really not that important to me, but if it were you, would you ask for money for the photo, or just for credit that you took the photo?

Also in giving them a photo like that, I still maintain the rights to the photo is that correct?

ask for money, don't give away something artistic you've done for free, tech can afford it

I would ask whether or not it was being used for profit in any way. If it is you have every right to ask for compensation.

Regardless I'd "watermark" it. I know watermarking isn't the correct term but I know little about photography and I'm too lazy to look up what the correct term is

if you want to go into some sort of photo career, just ask for credit. if they put it online or on some magazine or something, it'll have your name on it.

otherwise what's the point? ask for the dough.

I just talked to a friend who buys a lot of sports photography from Getty Images. They sell exclusive and non exclusive photography. If you're going to buy a photograph and the full rights to that photograph you're gonna be paying a ton. If you buy a non exclusive photo of say Jason Giambi that Sports Illustrated can also purchase it only costs a few hundred bucks.

I'd say write up a contract with Tech, cause you could easily get screwed out of distribution rights of your own photograph etc. Plus I wouldn't put it past Tech to use your image for a media guide and not even give you credit

i have no intentions on pursuing any type of career in photography. it's just hobby, if even that.

Personally I would only ask for credit. You did not take the photo for monetary gain so why try to profit from it.

One thing you could do is mention that you accept donations (probably need to word it differently for legal reasons) and that any amount would be fine.

Not to mention they didn't buy your lens, camera, etc. If photography is strictly a hobby then definitely ask for money
