Just don't see the appeal of tofu.

I didn't either until I tried it for the first time at Thai Thai many years ago. YUMMY!

then I started making dishes with it myself. It is a very versatile food.

Today's menu: leftovers

For lunch I had the remains of a bleu cheese chicken sandwich with fries from Chili's. For dinner I finished off some fajita meat from Rosa's. Jason had the rest of his Chili's sandwich as well as a bagel from Panera.

Wow, I just realized everything we've eaten today was store bought. This is NOT normal for our house. It's just that with the wedding in three days we are trying to finish up food in the fridge, and we're too busy (and the apartment is too chaotic) to cook a meal and sit down and eat.

When we get back from the honeymoon I'll go back to making dinner. I miss cooking.

Dessert will be leftover birthday cake from Jason's 23rd last week.

i have only been able to make tofu turn out good once. i do enjoy it at restaurants but i cant seem to do it myself. i dont want to deep fry it (instant delicious). ill buy the regular firm, drain them on paper towels with some weight on them, marinate for awhile, cut them into strips and stir fry. am i doing something wrong?

I usually small or medium cube it, as opposed to strips, so it cooks more evenly when making dishes that require it to be cooked with other items (like stir fry).

If deep frying the tofu goodness, then strips have worked out great for me.

Also depends on how you marinate them (if it's a taste issue you're having, as opposed to a cooking problem). I usually go with spicy things like Mongolian fire oil and others.

Like Zach, I prefer cubes to strips. Marinating is good. I like to lightly pan fry the cubes. They don't absorb as much oil as deep-frying, get good flavor and texture, and they hold up better than unfried cubes thrown into stir fry.
