QUOTE "My forecast is that around 2050, the state of Massachusetts will be the first jurisdiction to legalize marriages with robots," artificial intelligence researcher David Levy at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands told LiveScience. Levy recently completed his Ph.D. work on the subject of human-robot relationships, covering many of the privileges and practices that generally come with marriage as well as outside of it. At first, sex with robots might be considered geeky, "but once you have a story like 'I had sex with a robot, and it was great!' appear someplace like Cosmo magazine, I'd expect many people to jump on the bandwagon," Levy said. ... In 2006, Henrik Christensen, founder of the European Robotics Research Network, predicted that people will be having sex with robots within five years, and Levy thinks that's quite likely. There are companies that already sell realistic sex dolls, "and it's just a matter of adding some electronics to them to add some vibration," he said, or endowing the robots with a few audio responses. "That's fairly primitive in terms of robotics, but the technology is already there." this friggin scares me |

first couple things that come to mind:: 1.) population control. if it's real enough, why risk the pregnancy? 2.) why put up with paying for the date? 1 flat payment. all the prostitute, none of the disease 3.) stuck up psycho bitches better get their shit straight or they will find themselves out dated and unwanted. nothing gets results like a healthy dose of competition. -------------------- |

but a girl is still much much better than using the hand. nothing beats the real thing i think if they made it real enough that you could get emotionally attached and marry it, they could teach it how to be awesome in the bedroom. i was assuming that they could make the sex realistic. what fascinates me the most is the idea that man could attach a Game Genie to his woman and fix that bitches fucking issues. -------------------- |

I'm emotionally attached to a few inantimate objects. as in...I need them in my life and I would be devasted if they were gone.
while not sexually attached, I don't put it outside the realm of possibility. especially when you've been exposed to physically frigid or difficult people. |

most people under normal circumstances wont be able to connect to a robot now matter how "realistic" it is. if you know what it is, hard to move past

what about people who have an easier time being alone than with others?
what about those who have charlie brown luck when it comes to choosing partners/mates and have grown so apathetic that it would be easier for them to have a robot? I agree they may be anomalies, but I don't discount this altogether... |

will some loonies try? sure, but replacing standard coupling, allowing robot/female robot/male marriages when we don't even allow homosexual ones?, and having an effect on the lowering of the population?

the possibility is all good and well to speculate about. but until they can pass a face to face turing test, then they are all clattering gynoids.
well, i shouldnt say it like that. some people like the mechanical side of machines. so it would be up their alley for it to be unable to pass the turing test. -------------------- |
