So, in conclusion:
-Some people think guns are good and some think they're bad -Guns can be used for both good and bad. So can ladders -People who are insane should not have access to guns. Or ladders -Guns should either be legal or illegal Glad we cleared that up -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

absolutely we're all vulnerable.
but man walks into public place and sprays bullets and wipes out several people is not the same as man walks into public place and knifes one person while the other people run. that's all i'm trying to say. the knife argument is like the shark and ladder argument. we can be attacked with anything. but is there anything else out there that can do the amount of damage that a gun can in a short amount of time? -------------------- Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.

ok for sake of argument...
let's say hell froze over and america banned all guns. what then? what happens to the 300,000,000 privately owned firearms? they just disappear? "they" come to claim them? sorry dude, but we don't register our guns in texas (and in many states). I sold all mine face-to-face, cash, at the gun show in july. see what I mean? they are here. QUOTE Gun ownership was highest among middle-aged,
college- educated people of rural small-town America. Whites were substantially more likely to own guns than blacks, and blacks more likely than Hispanics. The most common motivation for owning firearms was recreation. Forty-six percent possessed a gun primarily for protection against crime. |

i have no idea.
i'm just proposing it, not suggesting a method. if there were harsh penalties for possession of a weapon i'm sure there'd be several given up, making it harder to get hands on one if you didn't already posses one. it'll never happen so it doesn't matter. -------------------- Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.

.00003 = amount of time for bullet to leave gun and enter body leaving no amount of time for human to dodge said bullet. i can put up a fight when a dude with a knife comes at me. so did you just have your eyes shut the entire time while someone pulled a gun on you, more than likely had to cock it and chamber a round, point it at you, aim, then pull the trigger? or is thinking about all that too inconvienent to your pointless comments? |

i'm not talking aesthetics.
GUN not equal KNIFE i don't know how else to explain it. lets do an experiment. we'll stand on the 50 yard line of a football field. i'll tell you i have a gun and a knife and that i'm going to stand still. you can take off running and i'll load the weapon and try and shoot you from how ever far away you've gotten by then. after you're on the ground i'll try to throw my knife at you and see if i can make it that distance. ok? cmac, f'n A man, we know, it's easier to kill someone with a gun than a knife. is that what you want us to agree to?
the point is, it doesn't matter how easy it is. there will always be human beings who want to kill other human beings. whether they do it with their bare hands, with a knife, a gun, a tank, a nuke, a laser gun, it doesn't matter. the human is the one that does the killing. |

thank you.
but its much easier to kill many more people at once with gun. i'm not for banning knives. just guns. for that reason. guns are the wackos weapon of choice. so if they're gone, and they have to resort to knives then that's cool. we won't lose as many lives. that's all i'm saying. edit: (clearly i'm bored at work today This post has been edited by cmac: Oct 11 2007, 02:48 PM -------------------- Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.

but then (like I think someone else has already said) you're taking away your law abiding citizen's ability to defend themselves.
