Basically, a group of astrophysicists made a paper saying that the time dimension is about to flip into becoming a fourth space dimension. EDIT: And apparently, the first website does work, it just takes forever to load. This post has been edited by pebkac: Oct 9 2007, 10:22 AM -------------------- Holy shit, pebkac, you're awesome! ok.. i did take two cal-based physics in college, and admittedly stuff like this would definitely be way over my head... but if you read the articles on that site, they all seem very made up.
i mean... QUOTE We study the UV properties, and derive the explicit form of the one-loop effective action, for a noncommutative complex scalar field theory in 2+1 dimensions with a Wulkenhaar term, at the self-dual point. We also consider quantum effects around non-trivial minima of the classical action which appear when the potential allows for the spontaneous breaking of the U(1) symmetry. For those solutions, we show that the one-loop correction to the vacuum energy is a function of a special combination of the amplitude of the classical solution and the coupling constant. |

Eh, it is astrophysics. Which I think is the biggest problem. I don't know shit about it so it could be the most genius thing in the world, or it could be totally bunk and I wouldn't know the difference.

the guys description is a little wonky.
if you really want to keep up with this sort of stuff it would be better to read what mars actually said. http://www.iop.org/EJ/article/-search=3438...23BGYaoIY3Ai7Kg |
