haha I switched schools 3 times, Finally finishing in December. Taking a year and a half off and finally got a new job (kinda like career) in San Antonio today. They're going to pay for my law school :-) But I'm sure if I wanted to, I could make campaigning my career. That's icky and I hate it. So I'm leaving it.

It's kinda sad. -------------------- |

why is that sad? Well it's not sad that I'll have 4 degrees, but it's kinda silly that I've gone all over the place. I've attended: University of North Texas (1999-2001) Texas State University (2001-2003) Texas Tech University (2003-2005) University of New Mexico (2005-2006) And I'll probably be attending UT for my PhD eventually. -------------------- |

I like San Marcos and the campus is pretty, but the quality of education you get there varies widely by field.
I was there during the big stupid-assed debate over whether to change the name (from SWT) and that ticked me off. Not because I cared about the name of the school, but because I gathered documented evidence that some of their reasons for the name change were complete and utter BS. -------------------- |

Hopefully their graduate political science department isn't bad. It's between them and UT (still need to send in all my app stuff to them). Not a student.
No degree, I dropped out with a decent GPA (2.7) for reasons I don't feel like explaining Going back to college in January, probably St Edwards. Trying to gamble and invest my way to pay for it, cause I gotta pay for college this time. -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

Well a lot of their reasons were subjective, but there were two objective things that I checked out.
1) Claimed that lack of name recognition was the reason they weren't granted a chapter of some major national honor society. I contacted the society and found out that they hadn't applied for a chapter in something like 30 years. Reasons for turning them down included availability of library resources, number of scholarships given out, things like that. 2) They also claimed that lack of name recognition was the reason that they weren't listed as a Carnegie Foundation Tier 1 school. That I found was simply because they hadn't granted enough PhDs in the last reporting period. -------------------- |

I freakin love Texas State and would recommend it to anyone that loves hiking and rivers... and just a really beautiful campus set in the hill country. We don't have the city like atmosphere that UT has, and our campus is far more laid back.
And Jonathan: I went to CC in high school, dual credit and took courses in the summer. So technically, 3 colleges. Zach: I'm in the Poli Sci department here at Texas State. It really all depends on what you want to do with your masters degree. I've heard some really good things and some bad things. But the good by far outweigh the bad. All of the Poli Sci professors are AMAZING. I wouldn't trade any of them in for the world. |
