Why help any other countries at all? Why not just focus on the domestic?

funny thing, America is the most generous nation in the world when it comes to giving away money.

By the way, are the companies that hired him experiencing any punishments themselves? I believe they should be just as accountable for this situation, since they hired the guy that's sucking the economic life out of us.

But his family had no control over what he did and shouldn't be punished for it.

how is his family being punished? it was his money, not theirs. if i make money and someone takes it away, my family has nothing to do with it.

He has put in AT LEAST what he's now trying to take out.

how do you figure that? it said he lived frugally, and i bet he hardly spent anything. he probably lived in some house with 10 other illegal immigrants and was taking advantage of rent too.

In labor alone. I guarantee you for the 5.50 he made an hour, and for the workload he did, you would have been paid twice as much for the same job.

And I know it's money the family never had. But if he left for the purpose of getting money, and they've been worried about him getting caught while he's been gone (which logically I assume they would) now they are left with no money AND no father/husband while he rots away in jail (my scenario that's where he'd go.) It's a lose-lose for them and they didn't even do anything.

i totally agree with kc that companies who knowingly hire illegals need to be punished as well.

there's a reason these cookie cutter neighborhood homes put together by illegals fall apart after three years.

fuck you and fuck your "aiding neighboring countries"

i never wanted my money to go to them in the first place. let them starve.

AND WHEN THE FUCK IS AFRICA JUST GONNA DIE OUT FROM AIDS ALREADY?!! I MEAN FUCK!

your post has so much to add to this thread. thanks for contributing you seem really intelligent and really helped to focus this discussion

"why help other countries? why not just focus on the domestic?"
does that ever really work? itd be a tough move to go from being the pseudo police nation of the world to not putting our noses into international business and relations. and instability in foreign countries is bound to affect us at some point (middle east). so we have to do something. as opposed to letting it go till the worlds on the brink of war i think if more economic and social aid is given that can really work towards prevention. but it should be in balance and foreign interests should never exceed domestic issues
i am idealistic though but i consider that to be a more humane and cautious way to be.
if we have the ability to help, we should is what it boils down to for me

its the businesses fault he was able to earn that 59k. he rightfully believed it was his and he could support his family. i dont think its right to take it away from him when it shouldnt have been allowed to happen in the first place.
so the business should have had to pay the taxes not him.

I think he should definitely be punished for not paying his taxes and working illegally while he was in this country, however it seems unfair to just seize all that money that he earned. He should have just taken the money they offered him and ran. Sucks for him because dishwashing is some shitty ass work for only 5.50 an hour.

A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

i would like to say that an example needs to be set... except it seems all other illegals just send money home every couple months and don't get caught like this guy

He has been here for eleven years, right? And he did not send any money home this entire time. So he has not really had anything to do with his family. I fail to see how this changes their lot in life in the grand aspect of things. They will not see a father/husband/brother they have not been seeing and will not have $59K that they did not have to begin with.

They should take the taxes that he owes, plus the fines for the past backdue 11 years, and prosecute him like any other person who committed tax evasion and all the other charges that come with being an illegal immigrant. After he gets out of jail, give him the remaining money and ship his ass home.
