decided im going with satellite with a new hd tv....any recommendation on which one of those to get? I already know i will have to have a local hd antennae to get the local channels in hd

you sure? i know my bud here has directv and he has two dishes, one for locals (including HD) and the other for the rest of it. i think they both do that. my vote would be directv also, i like how you can get several different brands of the boxes. and i had a pretty bad experience w/dish so that kinda sours them for me.

im in abilene, they dont have local hd broadcast over either dish or directv...you have to have a hd antenna to get the locals in hd

if it ever rains don't get a dish. especially if there are severe storms. sucks to sit there wondering if a tornado is going to land on your roof with no tv signal. i switched back to digital cable. if you're still going with it though directv

i'm in abilene too and my dad just recently got satellite. we use dish network and it's pretty awesome

how is the signal when it rains, ive heard bad things and other people say its not a problem

does directv have the same problem with rain?

i've never seen a problem when it rains..but it hasn't rained too much so i'm not sure.

satellite is touch and go when it rains

sometimes it's fine...other times it blows

you'll probably be fine in abilene but if you were getting dish or directv in seattle you might rethink it

it turned me off to it when i had dish and only saw the first quarter of the 2005 ncaa championship. the other huge turnoff was waiting for the damn thing to aqcuire a signal all the time just when flipping through the guide.
