Southwest will announce today that they are keeping their open boarding policy rather than assigning seats but instead of the A,B,C lines they will assign you a number from 1 through how many seats they have and you will board by number, which should eliminate people standing in the long boarding lines.

As I stated in the other thread, they've also gotten rid of preboarders sitting in the exit rows thumsbup.gif

one thing i had one time that was kinda weird, and as embarassing as this is to admit, i did have to use a seatbelt extender once when i was around 355. the thing just barely wouldn't click, and the extender was jacked all the way to the shortest possible. anyhow, their policy said since i needed an extender i couldn't sit in the exit row. which is friggin stupid because i could rip that door off and throw it across the room.

The exit row policy isn't just about being able to open the door, it's also about being able to have people maneuver around you while you show them the exit. You also have to fit through the door. No offense but the exit row doors are quite a bit smaller than the normal ones.

ah well i guess that makes sense. i kinda doubt the extra inch i got outta the extender would have determined that i couldn't fit through the door though. oh well.

Yeah, it's kind of a dumb rule. Then again, I've seen people who were of average weight who definitely did not need to be in the exit row (broken foot, etc.)
