if you don't want to read negative comments or debate the iphone, perhaps clicking on a thread entitled "Why the iPhone sucks" was a bad idea for you.
also for the umpteenth time: i like the iphone, i think it's pretty neat. is it for me? no, there are a couple of essential things i use on my phone that the iphone does not do yet. should these items be addressed by the time my current plan is up, i might even buy one. i just want the giddy people who bought it and jumped on the apple bandwagon to admit that they just like it for the coolness/trendy factor and quit tryin to act like it's some revolutionary new product just because the animations are pretty. it's starting to get like that south park toyota prius episode. it's easy to see that it's the warm fuzzies that sell the phone when you ask a question like "what makes it easier to call someone" and you get blank stares and non-responses. |

Yes, I'm sure your endless bitching will make people fall to their knees and proclaim that they are dumb for buying an iPhone. Why, why did I buy this thing that I find enjoyable when some super internet dork thinks it's lame. Please dear god save my soul because I know that I sold out in buying something "trendy" because no one's ever done that before. SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEe Me jeebus. |

I like to be a little different. Im sorry, but those kids that walk around campus with their iPhone and iPods look like tools. They sit on the bus playing with it the whole time. I use my phone (LG Chocolate) as an mp3 player. when I walk around, the phone is in my bag and i walk, or I sit on the bus and just listen. Everybody that has an ipod stares at the thing. Its like they are showing off. "hey, look at me... i have the NEWEST ipod. yours is like so last year." Do they not know how to set up a playlist? Same with iphones. People that own them, always have them out, showing them off. I dont have an obsession with being different, but I do hate to be the same as everybody else. I cant wait until a valid competitor enters the mp3 market....a competitor that takes apple's mass advertising and shoves it down their damn throats. Thats all Apple has going for them.... an awesome marketing team. Marketing? I think Apple's marketing is extremely lacking and geared toward current owners more than new, potential customers. I have noticed a decline in my use of my iPod over time and now the only time I really listen to a lot of music is on planes. Yeah, there is a lot of showing off but that's with everything (purses, cars, etc.), it is not limited to iPods and iPhones. The people you describe seeing on the bus are what we call "SIBM" at the airports. A Self-Important Business Man is someone who has his blackberry out, talking too loud about some merger and making sure he is heard. I personally love it when their phone starts ringing when they're "on" it already -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

You know... I never could quite understand why it is that when people say that anything from Apple sucks they always seem to focus more on the people that use them than the actual product itself...

It's because technically the product is solid, yet the accuser does not want to concede defeat, so they move on to personal attacks. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

Thats all Apple has going for them.... an awesome marketing team. and good products. but i think that argument has been discussed before. not sure.... if you want to get into specifics, to access a map on your phone you probably have to go to menu, or use a scroll wheel or navigation item to access a map menu item and hit ok, select, or some other item. my phone, i press map. same can be said for calendar, contacts, mail, internet, etc. small details i guess. and your phone is ugly i read a blog post a while back, which i can't seem to find now about a guy that purchased an iphone. he opened the product played with it for 20 minutes and felt done. used. like some sort of buyers remorse feeling. but he still loved the phone. after a little while he realized that the feeling was that he completely knew the ins and outs of the phone already. there was no learning curve like there is with some other gadgets. there are no buried items or features in the iphone. everything is front and center and easy to figure out and navigate. it's funny that no one that actually owns an iPhone is like "eh it's ok. i wish it did more." but yet there is nothing but positive glow from the owners. even from people who have never owned an apple product before. It's because technically the product is solid, yet the accuser does not want to concede defeat, so they move on to personal attacks. i never said there was anything wrong with the iphone or people who purchase them. i never said the product wasn't solid, or personally attacked anyone. the only thing i'm asking here is why it's considered sooooo much easier to use than another phone. i guess rather than having the people on here who've bought one simply list the steps and show how much easier it is and shut me up, they'll just keep making pointless remarks about me continuing the thread, telling me to stop bitching, etc. so, instead of discussing on a discussion board the topic. i just walked over to the guy here that has one, and asked him to show me how he makes a call. 1. touch the screen to bring it back alive 2. press the contacts button 3. press the person you want to call 4. press the number (home/cell/work/etc) to call now I ask, does anyone have any cell phone where this is not the case? |

I actually was not pointing you out. It was a generalization and can be applied to almost any argument where someone is pointed at as wrong. I don't see any problem with your posts on this subject. I have thought the same things you have. I've gone to the Apple stores and played with the phone but still can't make the justification in my head that it's worth the purchase. I have read a lot about the phone online but most people forget the key piece, how it performs as a phone, which is what it is. If it rocks as a music player, great, but if it sucks as a phone then it doesn't help me. I need a phone on the road, some sort of easily accessible map, subway maps, and e-mail. The iPhone has this in one package, but I can do the same thing with my iPod and Treo. My temptation is to buy the cheaper 4GB model while they're still around, and if I hate it, so be it. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

fine. but one of the complaints about the iphone was that it doesn't have games.
