My computer is giving the error "Unmountable Boot Volume" when I restart. From what I've read I need to restart with the XP cd and fix something. However, I do not have a XP CD. Can anybody help me out?

It only gets past the black Dell screen and then the error occurs. I tried to restart in safe mode and last known good setup but the same thing happened.

http://www.bootdisk.com/

make a boot disk, then there should be some kinda utility that will help you on there. sounds like your hard drive is going bad. it might just be a bad sector that can be fixed by one of the utilities though.

That requires floppy disks correct? I have a floppy drive on my home computer but not on my work computer.

haha doh... well search for bootable CD, should be able to find somethin

if you know the brand of your hard drive, the manufacturer's site will almost always have boot CDs w/repair utils on them.
