Rant time! Let me preface this by saying I wouldn't use TimeWarner if I didn't have to; however, I'm locked in to the bastards because they have a monopoly in my area.
It all started when I logged on to TimeWarner's website to order their cable Internet service. I signed up for a package online because at the time they were running a special promotion where all Internet orders got 10 dollars off the monthly service. After putting in my order I got an email confirmation saying that a representative would contact me within the next 24 hours to set up an installation appointment. I waited three days and the fucking assholes never called me. I called up customer support and after an hour long wait they tell me that they have no record of my order and it never went though! I gave them my order confirmation number and spoke with three managers but no one could figure out what the fuck happened. I brushed all that off and told them... well go ahead and put in an order for me but give me the special online discount. Surprise surprise, the fucking bastards wouldn't give me the discount over the phone! Their online order form wasn't working so how the fuck do they expect me to order their service with the discount? My bet is they put the promotion up and then purposefully broke their order form so no one could get the discount. After being on the phone for 3 hours I didn't feel like protesting any longer and told them to just sign me up at the normal rate. So they signed me up but the next installation date was two fucking weeks away! I figured I could mooch off my neighbors wireless for two weeks and let them go. Fast forward to two weeks later. The bastards are supposed to be there sometime between 8 in the morning and 11 in the afternoon. Did anyone show up?? Not one God damn soul knocked on my door that morning. I called up customer support to bitch and the next scheduled installation date was another TWO FUCKING weeks away! I immediately escalated to that person's manager, then that manager's manager. Finally I got someone who said they would send someone out within the next three hours. DID ANYONE FUCKING SHOW UP? FUCK NO! So bitched and bitched some more and finally they told me to come down to the Time Warner office and pick up the "self-install kit". Well fuck... if I knew they had a God damn self-install kit I would have fucking been down there two fucking weeks ago to pick it up, bastards. Fast forward to today. I go down to the Time Warner office to pick up my self-install kit but the lady behind the counter said no one had been out to my apartment yet to activate the service so I couldn't have the cable modem. I immediately blew the fuck up, started cursing, banging on the counter, and demanding why the fuck I was getting the run around. The lady behind the counter refused to help or escalate to her manager because her manager was in a meeting. I told her I wasn't fucking leaving until I got someone to help me. I staged a sit-in and refused to remove myself from the floor in front of the counter until I got some fucking help. She threatened to call the police and I told her to do it. The dumb bitch was bluffing and after a couple of minutes she finally went to pull her damn manager out of her fucking meeting. I explained my situation and how I kept getting fucked over by their incompetent bastards. I asked for phone numbers to corporate, her managers number, etc. The good thing is the lady actually had some pull within the company and got a technician to come out to my place immediately. I also got her to discount my monthly service bill. The technician then comes out to my place and installs everything, but I'm only getting 3.6 mbits out of the 7 I'm supposed to get. So it looks like next week will be filled with even more bitching and whining to TimeWarner until they get their shit straight. I also got disciplinary actions taken against the two customer service reps that flat out lied to me. Fucking TimeWarner, I wish someone would burn all their offices to the ground and then shit on the ashes. |

I had them this summer when I was in California. They were great out there so I guess it must be a regional thing.

yeah the peeps in houston are sayin the same stuff about comcast. we had time warner for the past 20 howevermany years and the 'switch' down here was painful on a lot of people too apparently. i dunno why cable companies have to make it such a pain in the ass w/the whole "we'll be there between 8 am and 8 pm" BS.
and yeah i ALWAYS deal w/the local people at the storefront places... i rarely ever even bother w/the customer service people or technicians. i don't think there really is an alternative though... i've had the same type of disgusting customer service when i dealt with dish network and their charging my credit card over $1500 for equipment that they confirmed they recieved back from me. i've heard similiar horror stories for pretty much every service available out there. it's a no win situation. luckily once you get through the initial BS and get everything set up, the shit works and you never have to deal w/them again. |

I had good service when I used Time Warner, but that was several years go and in San Marcos. Now I'm using Grande Communications, which is flat out awesome.

yeah grande is just a reseller of cox
but i must say, cox/suddenlink/etc was the best customer service i've received for cable. the people were always really nice, and it was so easy to just take a box up there to swap it, or get a new box, etc. and they were adding lots of HD channels too. |

time warner has been good to my parents for quite some time
1. if you live in an apartment, why the hell does someone have to come out to turn your cable on...most cable companies (even cox..when it was aroun) could instantly turn your cable on from their computers. 2. if their online order form was down or not working then that indicates a problem and most likely why your order never went through -------------------- "Ah, y'know it's funny, these people they go to sleep, they think everything's fine, everything's good. They wake up the next day and they're on fire."

If you read my post my online order appeared to go through and I even got a confirmation number via email.
I don't know why someone had to come out, I think they just wanted the 25 dollars for the installation fee which is a bunch of bullshit because I can plug in a cable modem myself. TimeWarner is just out to rape consumers. |

What I want to know is why cable companies charge customers for basic cable when if a customer signs up for internet and buys a splitter, you get internet and cable for the price of one. (not that I do that of course)

Timewarner gave me a used controller that had to be rubberbanded to keep the battery thing on, and did NOT controll the dvr at all.
BUt i just went in and exchanged it no problem (walked in, walked out). Other than double billing me once (which i sorted out not too difficultly) i haven't had too much trouble with them. The whole thing about them not giving you the internet discount though is insanity... i'd be pissed too. Oh and police would have made the story better -------------------- |
