what I wanna know is...

if you only have so much money, prefer beer over shitty mexican food, yet still want to socialize...what is the problem with saving your coin for the beer?

are you stating that because someone would rather have beer than tacos, that he is less of a person?

because that's some bullshit.

Corona vs. Rosa's tacos.

And people wonder why me and Gert never actually ate at Taco Tuesday

zach if that is TRUE (you dont have a good run on being honest imo) referring to Luman just saying sure leave whenever a lease doesnt matter THAT STILL PUTS ME OUT A THOUSAND PLUS. you or luman owe me money.

technically you do unless you signed something but luman was probably smooth enough to not have you do that

are you all still douchbags? yes. that is entirely too much money to lose

Woah woah woah. Was there any written contract about him paying for it even if the lease was absolved? If so, then hey, just take it to court. If it's TOO much money to lose, don't bitch about it on the internet, take it to a place that can get it taken care of. If there was no contract about it and the lease was absolved entirely, well, you're screwed. And from a legal standpoint, you didn't lose any money because no service was given or taken. The binding contract became unbinding.

If your name is still on a lease you are obligated by law to pay whatever amount is your share. It doesn't matter if you're subleasing. You are still responsible to have that payment in to WHOEVER takes the money so you aren't liable for nonpayment. You must give 30 days notice (or more...depending on landlord) before you move out. You cant move out in the middle of the month and then expect to not pay 15 days into the next month.

Bottom line....

IF YOUR NAME IS STILL ON THE LEASE YOU ARE STILL OBLIGATED. YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR NAME OFF OF THE LEASE TO BE FREE OF ANY PAYMENT.

From what it sounds like, the name was off the lease. But I could have been wrong. If it wasn't off the lease and Zach just up and moved, he owes money.

I moved June 6th, 2005. The notice was given the next day or so to Luman. I paid rent for June and July. Financially, I "gave more than a 30 days notice," and Luman said he understood blah blah I'm off the lease. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he didn't tell you, Cathryn. He was a nice guy but a bit flaky.
Also, why would I owe you any utilities if I wasn't there to use them?!?
