so i'm going to be buying a new car soon. probably a 2006 dodge magnum. not here for advice on the car, instead to discuss financing options.

I have been a wells fargo customer for a long time, with a bank account, credit account, so should I try to get a car loan through them?

Should I just finance through the auto dealership?

Not really sure which way is better, and no, i don't have rates available from either, no quotes yet.

sometimes the dealership has good financing. go to your bank before you go the dealership and see what they would offer you. Then, go to the dealership and see what they would offer. I leased my truck, and got an amazing deal with a buy option at the end. If you are on a limited income then thats the way to go in my opinion. Some are against leases, but dealerships are really pushing them right now. Also, since its getting close to the end of the month, I strongly advise going in the last day of the month at 5pm. They are going to really try to get in a couple of more sales before the end of the month. Thats what I did and they gave me whatever I wanted.

you can finance at the dealer, they just pick whatever lender is currently giving the best rates. you can try your bank but i doubt you'd get a better rate just for being a customer (crappy huh).

some additional details...

i don't have much for a down payment and no card to trade in. long story for the car, and short story for the saved cash because i haven't been working full time very long.

that being said, think it would be wiser to go with the dealership still knowning that i may only have $1500 to put down versus a bank loan?
