what, you want me to vote democrat just because there's a minute chance a democrat might beat perry? i don't agree with the democrats so why should i vote for them? i definitely don't agree with perry and would never vote for him

we will never have a viable third party if idiots keep using your flawed logic and only voting for republicans or democrats, until people wake up we'll always have a two-party system and idiots will keep using your flawed logic, vicious cycle

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." -Mahatma Gandhi

if you don't want a two party system, follow that gandhi quote and vote for a third party

i don't think the libertarian party really is a separate party. they share too many views with the republican party. what do you see as the differences in the two? (other than the intangible "zomg republikans are corrupt" kinda crap). i.e. is there some fundamental issue that is completely opposite of what the republican party generally views?

what the republicans say they are for is not what they actually support in practice

they preach a few libertarian ideals but pass totalitarian and socialist stuff in congress, and spend a few trillion dollars over their budget

actions speak louder than words and currently what republicans classify themselves and preach (conservative) is not what they actually do once elected

libertarians and republicans are not the same in any way, shape, or form

republicans = democrats lite

Libertarians are fiscal conservatives and and social liberals. Maximum personal freedom, maximum personal responsibility. They support decentralization and non-aggression in laws and foreign policies.

ok this brings me to my point pretty well... what kind of "stuff" do the libertarians pass in congress or how do their budgets work out? oh wait that's right there's no past record to show this. so in essence, what you have from the libertarians is exactly what replublicans have done. both parties have the same stance on a lot of issues. and those issues that they don't agree on, there's not enough people who go those ways (which is why they don't get elected).

i'm not saying there's anything wrong w/the party, i just honestly don't think you'd see much difference from the republicans to the libertarians if they actually held office.

since the republicans aren't practicing what they preach then the next logical step is to throw them out and elect someone else who's policies you agree with

you can't totally discount one party just because they haven't held an office of any significance yet... libertarians are one of the key groups railing the republicans for their lies etc... you're telling me you won't see a change if libertarians took over?

your logic is so flawed i don't even know where to being with this

that's like saying we shouldn't have made george washington president just because he never held office before and that we wouldn't see much change from king george's policies while under british rule

Well you have to look at their track record if they've held any kind of public office. Ron Paul, for instance, votes against unbalanced budgets, most spending bills, and legislation that he think should be left to the states.

right, but there is no track record for them as a party. i'm not saying we should vote based on party, but this is stemming from the "why don't we have a 3rd party in our system" question.
