I got a call Wednesday from a recruiter looking for a mechanical design engineer with Solidworks experience. Ok, no problem there. Well whoops, the job is in Dallas and I'm not willing to relocate. Ok, not a big surprise, whatever. He asks if I know anyone who might fit the bill and, if so, if I could forward his contact information to them. Also not surprising.
Doesn't say a whit about "I don't have anything in the Austin area now, but I'll keep an eye out for any openings" or anything along those lines. That makes me a tad bit pissy because recruiters are supposed to be working for the job-seekers, not vice-versa. As a capper, he called me up just now to "touch base" and see if I'd had any luck finding referrals. So now I'm thinking... this guy's kind of a dick. Maybe I should post his contact info on Techans so that people can fuck with him. What do y'all say? Should I? -------------------- |

i get the same crap. i specify on the job sites my 2-3 cities i dont mind working in but still get recruiters from all over. i don't think it's monster selling your info it's just recruiters searching crap they know people don't want because they're either idiots, or think the person will change their mind.

I finally added something like "available only for work in the Austin/Round Rock area" to my objective on monster because recruiters were obviously overlooking the "available to relocated: NO" field. This guy mentioned that, but still wanted to see if there was any chance I'd be interested because apparently folks with solidworks experience are not a dime a dozen (everyone seems to want Pro/E experience anyway, so I guess I'm not surprised...)
Anyways, that peeves me, but I get it all the time, so I'm over it. What annoyed me no end with this guy was his lack of concern for anything but me getting him referrals. -------------------- |
