lockheed and USA and other NASA contractors are hiring tons of diff EE & CS types right now if anyone is looking. they're building up for the run to get the new vehicle built that will replace the shuttle in 2014, as well as get started on moon & mars mission stuff. there's supposedly a huge push to get this done early, as the shuttles are supposed to be done in 2010, and if there's a 4 year gap before we have our next vehicle we'll have to rely on the russians (which the govt definitely doesn't wanna do). I got an insider contact finally, just tryin to decide if I want to work 30% more hours for 20% more pay

didn't someone on here work for one of the big contractors before? I want to hear what it was like... I know a guy who worked at USA on space shuttle SW and he hated it, but that stuff was very old, I'd imagine working on the mars/moon/new vehicle stuff would be fun. I'd just really hate to get stuck working 60+ hr work weeks.

well we'll see, but the main thing is it's something neat to work on, and the big question on hours is whether it's overtime or not. I know a few people out there and some get overtime some don't.

i've gone on job interviews to l3 and lockheed, met with engineers there, toured the facilities etc. and both places didn't seem like a place i'd want to work... everyone looked tired and overworked, the bosses seemed draconian, and the interview process was grueling... if they treat you that way in the interview just imagine what it'll be like when they hire you
during the interview they flat out tell you that you'll be working 10-12 hour days they both offered me jobs btw, i turned them down i've heard raytheon and lockheed are as different as night and day though |

see i've heard raytheon is a rough atmosphere too. i guess it's all in which dept/project you end up on. you probably interviewed w/lockheed in dfw? the missles/weapons section?
