Ok, so I know how to get to Austin from Lubbock, and I know how to get to San Antonio from Lubbock; but Im trying to think of what would be the fastest way to get to San Marcos....Here is what I have thought about. Anyone know for sure what is the fastest?

Take 87 out of Lubbock for about 4 hours until you get to 71, take that to South Austin and hop on I 35 South

or

Take 84 to I-20 to some small road I cant remember the name of to 153 to 84 to 183 into Austin and cut over to I-35 South to San Marcos

or

Take 87 to I-10, drive through San Antonio, and hop on I-35 N

Honestly, I think the first one is the fastest, but I have never taken 71 out that far. I mean, I just saw it when I was driving to San Antonio and thought "hmmm 71 cuts through South Austin". Anyone ever taken this way before?

If I dont do that first one, then I guess the second one is the best choice.

Unless someone knows of a better way that I havent listed. Give me ideas, people. Thanks in advance

I guess I was just kinda hoping there was a way to avoid San Antonio and Austin, or at least a majority of the city. I will probably just end up going through Austin though

if you go through san antonio, take 1604 to avoid most of the city. as long as you aren't here during rush hour, you'll be fine

San Antonio has less traffic than Austin, but it takes longer to get to San Antonio then it does to get to Austin, not by much but still. Also, I think (dont quote me on this) San Marcos is slightly closer to Austin than it is to San Antonio. meh. I dont know.

So if I were to go through San Antonio, I take I-10 to 1604 to I-35? I mean, I thought I-10 hit 1604 like 2 or 3 miles before it hits I-35. Whats the point? Maybe Im just dumb. I know 410 and I-10 have a shit ton of construction right now. I definitely want to avoid that mess.

Go the 84 to 183 to 281 at lampasas. Then FM 32 past Blanco. I would do this if Going rush hour time, otherwise through austin.

oh you big city people and your numbered roads...

Most of my directions consist of "take university/indiana/quaker and turn right on numbered street"

This is what my map software says is the fastest and shortest, but it doesn't take into account rush hour / road construction.
