In reply to Impala's question about losing $36K: It would have zero impact because the $1K a month that you're currently living on is what you already have; the $36K is what you would inherit later on down the road. Same with Paris, the money she spends like crazy now is what she has now; that $60M is what she would have gotten later - can't lose what you never really had. we're not talking about whether you can live off of $x, we're talking about what amount of money is significant to certain people. If you went over to the phillipines with your salary of $40,000 US you're treated like a millionaire. |

But it's not significant if you never had it. Don't count your chickens before they hatch and all of those similar cliches.

ok James is $0.01 significant to you? If someone gave you $0.01, would that make a wealth of difference in your life? no. if someone gave you $100,000 it probably would. it's about the amount of money that is significant to your lifestyle.

If someone gave me anything, it would be significant, but until they give me the money, it means absolutely nothing. Just words and you can't take words to the bank.

i'm sure her 60 million inheritance means nothing when she gets paid over a million dollars to appear at a fucking party and she's getting paid a pretty sum for her tv shows

Uhh...yeah. We are talking about gifts. The entire point of the thread was that she's not going to get an inheritance. Since the old man isn't dead, she never really had it anyway.
There is such a thing as a saturation point and anything else is simply oversaturation. Paris just happens to live beyond the saturation point and anything else will be oversaturation. I don't think any amount would be significant. -------------------- Spam? Isn't that something poor people eat?

Haha no amount would be significant? So 1 billion dollars would not be a significant amount of money to Paris Hilton?
You know I'm right, you know exactly what I'm talkin about, you just won't admit it. |

I doubt it, hence my lack of response. Some people have the force, some people don't. Some people have logic, he does not.

yeah, because there's so much logic in saying 60 million dollars isn't significant to someone. Where did I say $60M isn't significant to someone? I said it's not significant to Paris Hilton and, not sure if I actually said this, but I am now, that it's not significant to me. For some - Paris Hilton - it's just a drop in the bucket; for others - me - materialism isn't a goal in their life. -------------------- Spam? Isn't that something poor people eat?
