I know we just had a thread about Denver, but this one is different. I just got a job in Denver and I'll be moving in the next few weeks. Anyone have any insight to this city that I should know?
Where are the bad parts of town that I don't want to live in? That sort of thing. Anything is helpful.

are you moving to actual denver proper or the denver area? i could give you pretty good details just based on where you'll be working (and probably wanting to live).

it's like any big city, lots of crappy areas mixed in with the good ones.

i'd stay away from the north to northeast side, both in and outside of the city limits; the better parts/suburbs are on the south and west sides.

good places: englewood, centennial, greenwood village, golden, littleton
okay places: wheat ridge, lakewood, broomfield
crappy places: aurora, commerce city, thornton, westminster, arvada

my job is in downtown. 14th st.
i'd like to live closer to the mountains, but not commute more than 45 min. or so with traffic.
i was there this weekend and lodo was pretty cool. i have a big dog though, so i think an apartment is out of the question.

golden/boulder are pretty good mountain towns but the traffic can be pretty bad and the real estate is pretty expensive. I'd stay away from boulder as it has the worse traffic/higher cost of living. Golden has a small town feel to it and its not too bad of a commute.

awesome, my grandparents live at 17th and hudson in the park hill area. around there is one of the nicest areas in the city, but the ghetto is still mixed in with it. colfax is the biggest main street running east/west, but it's huge dump (drive 3 blocks north or south anywhere off colfax, though, and it's nice)

there are a shitton of backhouses and such if you want to live close and have a yard, but expect to pay for the convenience.

some apartments in the capitol area, probably also pretty expensive. around the city park golf course (north of colfax on colo blvd) there are more apartments, and i think they've been cleaning up that area for a while.

the coors field area is industrial-ish, but some newer trendo apartments up that way. the farther away from coors field (closer to lodo) there will be more good ($$$) places.

stay away from the cheesman park area (south of colfax) unless you like dudes

if you're looking for cheap, MLK blvd is quite a bit further north, and that's the worst part of the park hill area.

You and everyone else in Denver.

The closer to the mountains you get, the more expensive it is to live, generaly speaking ... Unless you can find a quiet little suburb around Morrison or something maybe.

Dude you could live 5 blocks from your job and you'd have a 45 minute commute there. If you work in down town denver get used to at least a 90 minute commute every day I'd say. Some days more, perhaps a few days it'd be less .... even with I-25 being 8 lanes all the way through now the traffic still blows assgoats there.

I haven't lived in downtown denver no, I lived 20 miles north of there, and for christs sakes, that was bad enough.

You people are insane.

from the few days I spent in Denver last August, and from living in Austin as well as Dallas....

Denver had some fucked up traffic. I used to entertain the idea of looking into a job there perhaps, but getting around that town was miserable during the day.

Denver gets good shows.

Fuckmuffin. That word and muffintop are the two coolest things I've ever seen on this place. What would happen if a fuckmuffin fucked a chick with a muffintop? That's a lot of muffins. A lot of motherfuffin muffuckins.
