aw disappointing. i figured he was actually doing most of his stuff alone. he does say on the show that the camera crew is only there for life and death situations.

but i saw that episode with the horses, that was totally fake. you wouldnt be able to walk up to a wild horse especially after the herd ran off and it would rarely be alone. at the time i figured he wandered into someones ranch

personally i prefered this comment:
QUOTE
I suspected this was staged because when was the last time you saw an Englishman survive without his daily tea and cumpets.

and the guy 'proved' he could climb mt everest. awesome accomplishment for sure, so why not start a mt climbing show instead of faking a survival show in places that have nothing to do with mt everest?

meh, yet another thread where Impala demonstrates his ability to be a raging douche.

/on topic - Meh, I figured a lot of it was this way. Still a fun show to watch with some interesting tips.

you certainly need surviving skills to climb mt everst other than "mounting climbing stuff". in addition to what he was trained in the military. hes a perfect candidate for a show like that. if hes taught some of the stuff thats cool he is still a certainly interesting and dynamic host to present the information

this is one of your problems impala. your reasoning stops at black and white. if he knows how to climb mount everest and survive. plus his military background than he has some surviving skills. these skills he can apply to nearly anyplace on earth.

Or how about this comment...
QUOTE
He bit the head off a snake and ate it. He caught a living snake, put its tail in his mouth, bit the head off, and swallowed. He urinated on a tshirt then wore it around his face for a solid day in the desert. He found a dead zebra in Africa, cut chunks off of it with a knife and ate it raw. Later that day he was dehydrated so he squeezed water out of elephant dung and drank it. HE DRANK ELEPHANT DUNG WATER. He cooked and ate a turtle. He's climbed up and down water falls, swam in freezing waters, pulled himself out of quicksand (twice), slept in a tree house in the everglades (I live close to the everglades, I don't think theres any motels where he was at), dived into back breaking waves to retrieve an empty water bottle, and drank his own urine. Who cares if he spends the night in a hotel after that? Seriously, if you're going to be upset with the program because he isn't actually spending subzero nights in snow caves that he digs you're missing the point. ELEPHANT DUNG WATER!

i'm sure he has some good survival skills, but his show was staged and purposefully over the top just to get ratings.

bottom line, survivor man > man vs wild

the end

People say Survivor Man is boring but I think it is much more interesting than Man vs. Wild...

An example of why I like SM more than MvW is there are multiple SM episodes where survival techniques are actually shown and the guy talks about the different options if something he was doing wasn't available. The MvW just builds a raft out of logs and vines that he turned into rope... Yeah, right, like any of us are going to forge a river on something we put together from instructions on TV. No, we'd walk down the river and look for other ways to cross.

You just have to lash it and secure it with a knot...if you don't trust your knot of choice, make many knots, but I think the clove hitch is one used for securing in something like that. Tada, raft made.
