There's this thing called a sidewalk for a reason. It is absolutely pathetic to me to see people out exercising but doing it in the road, when there is a perfectly good sidewalk. The excuses made are f'n stupid:
"But the road is more even" -> So you want to make your RUN for EXERCISE easier!?!? "But there's cracks in the sidewalk" -> Oh heaven forbid you actually f'n watch where you're going, or have to step up and down (holy shit you might get more exercise) "But people park their cars in the driveway and it blocks the sidewalk" -> Zomg that extra five feet you have to run might KILL you! I'm sure I will think of more, but gah this shit is annoying. and have a nice day |

In all of my 24 years I've never seen a runner/jogger exercising in the road... they're always on the sidewalk.
What pisses me off are those damn cyclists in the middle of the road. |

What's really weird is that I've seen them running in the road in neighborhoods where cars are parked on the street, so they're swerving all about, but none (or few) in driveways blocking the sidewalk...
That was in ABQ. Around here, I've only seen them in the road where there's no sidewalk and they get up onto the grass when a car is coming (light traffic areas are where I see them). Bicyclists are around all the time, but they're usually in a bike lane or on the shoulder. -------------------- |

its legal to run on the road as long as you are counter traffic (running towards on coming traffic as opposed to when you are on a bike you are supposed to ride with traffic)
sidewalks have shitty kids playing on them, people walking their pets, lots of places dont have sidewalks, etc. in my 11 years of running i can honestly say ive never ran on a sidewalk. (with the exception of the sidewalk on the tech campus at night for minor periods of time when im not in the road) but i dont run during high traffic times -------------------- Little monkeys making money

I usually run in the grass next to a sidewalk... It's easier on my knees, right up until the point I hit a hole.

I don't see a problem with it as long as the person moves to the side of the road when a car is coming.

I run in the bike lane because we don't have sidewalks. Whenever there is a car parked in the bike lane I'll run onto a yard. I've never gotten in the way of a car
Cyclists are still disrespectful little bastards though. I was driving home and two cyclists were biking in the middle of the road, even though there was a bike lane for them. I swerved past them and yelled "Get out of the fucking road!" They had the audacity to follow me to my house, drive up in my driveway and they tried to start shit with me. I won't explain what caused them to leave but they eventually left pronto. Assholes -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

Asphalt has less impact on you than concrete. I perfer dirt paths, but perfer not to ruin people's lawns. I should run back and forth in Chuck's parents yard. First 5 feet is public right of way!
