I work for my mom's oil company. We just discovered that 114 barrels of oil are either missing or unaccounted for. Not exactly sure how - we believe one of our pumpers either skimmed it or he's keeping terrible records and not measuring the barrels every day. Basically, we're screwed. We're already short on pumpers. We've gone through several inept ones in the past 10 years. Regardless of what happens, whether or not he stole the oil or he isn't doing his job, we can't afford to fire him.

Basically, I have an option if we end up letting him go. I know the oil industry well enough to move down there to be a pumper. Anything I don't know, I can learn from our main pumper because he's been working for us for 20 years. I could pretty easily take over his job. On the plus side, I'd probably be making about $50k/year. Nice increase from my base salary of under $30k. On the downside, I'd have to live in fucking Giddings, Texas. It's a typical hick ass oil town and I don't know a single person there. Money isn't really an issue with me. I make more than enough supplemental income by gambling on sports and investing. However, an extra $20k a year would go a long way to getting a new car and maybe closing on a house. It sucks because whenever me and Jessica moved down to Austin, I didn't really know anyone. Most of my friends from back in the day had moved on elsewhere. I finally started meeting a bunch of new people and finally have a close knit group of friends again. Moving away and starting over would suck.

Dude, Giddings isn't that bad... You got Bastrop right there with the lake and all. Austin is only an hour away

Oh, and Hruska's is on 71 right in Giddings, home of the greatest kolaches on earth.

Bastrop State Park is pretty nice. My family stayed there once. They have some nice cabins you can rent.
