i didn't recommend that athletes drop out of school instead of getting an education. i recommended that kevin durant who will make millions in the NBA drop out of school so he can go make millions. he'd be a f'n idiot not to. you disagree?

if he leaves school early its his choice, he just better hope he doesnt get injured an manages his money well but theres no reason to retire his number. UT has had much better athletes that deserve their number retired before his.

maybe in the pros where people can have 15-20 year careers, but in college you don't have superstars with 15 years. at the absolute most you will have 4 years, and nowadays, if the guy is good enough to be worth of jersey retirement, he won't be around more than 1-2 years. so the option now is either stop retiring jerseys alltogether, or choose the best of the best, no matter how long they were there.

Brooks Kieschnick was elected to the College Baseball Hall Of Fame last year. His pro career was largely a flop, even though he was highly touted coming out of school and was a Top 10 pick.
