How long is the journey from Austin to LBK? I Google mapped it but I don't know how accurate it is.
Also, what route is recommended? |

It's 5-6 hours, depending on how fast you drive. The best route is 183 -> 84. 183 will take you from Austin to Goldthwaite, then 84 will take you all the way up to Lubbock.

Yup 5-6 hours. I went 71 to San Angelo and then went north to Lubbock.

best route from austin to lubbock would be 183, 84, 153, 71, 120
5.5 hours if not shorter. and despite the number of roads is very simple and virtually traffic free -------------------- Little monkeys making money

I'm not sure where 120 is, but that sounds like the route I took to drop my friend off in Kerrville Are you talking about 183-84-153-70-back to 84 that I told you about a long time ago? -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

take 183 up to brownwood/early
then take 84 up to Abilene take I20 west from Abilene to the 84 turnoff to lubbock just past sweetwater -------------------- "Ah, y'know it's funny, these people they go to sleep, they think everything's fine, everything's good. They wake up the next day and they're on fire."

It's pure 183 up to Goldthwaite, then 183 and 84 are concurrent from there to Brownwood. From Abilene, 84 and I-20 are concurrent until you get past Sweetwater, but most everything in that area is labeled as I-20, with little mention that you're still on 84. -------------------- |
