QUOTE
Why didn’t Apple use AT&T’s faster 3G Internet network? Apple says that today’s relatively unpolished 3G (third generation) radio chips would drain the battery too fast — and at this point, wouldn’t provide enough of a speed boost to justify that trade-off. Apple will release a 3G iPhone model when the time seems right.

lol "when the time is right". in other words, when the buzz wears off and they need to sell another one to the same people who bought the first one.

My current phone:

I got this in 2002 and it still keeps on ticking (best receptions, coverage, etc... of any phone I've had with no problems whatsoever).

I don't understand why everyone wants to pack so much shit into a mobile device. On an iPhone I would use: voice, text msg, and music. I couldn't imagine using any of the extras to justify the cost. Maybe if I lived in NYC and had a long commute I would use the video/web browsing features, idk. *shrug*

I agree. I don't need an MP3 player on my phone because I own an Ipod. I don't need a shitty camera on my phone because I have a digital camera. I certainly don't need to get on Myspace from my phone because I have a computer. Until someone invents a cell phone that gives me head, I'll stick to using one that actually gets decent reception

that will pass...

my parents have phones they got in 2001 and they look like bricks but people still comment on how "cool" they are because it's "oldskool"

then people will ask you where you got that phone...and you can tell them you time traveled...

I so far have no problems with phones that plays MP3's or takes pictures, since a) I don't own an ipod, cool.gif don't own a small camera (I have an SLR which is kinda hard to carry around regularly), c) I prefer not to walk around with a cellphone, a camera, and a mp3 player

I had that same sanyo phone that was posted for a long time, was an awesome phone until I accidentally smashed it on the ground.

as far as using more features... I like my pda phone a lot for the extra features, being able to browse to this site is huge for me. i also like the fact that it's an actual computer and I can put other nifty apps on it like novii remote (which I've used on tons of occasions to turn the volume up on TVs at the bar heh), media players (I've actually used it to watch full length movies on planes), and the ability to open office documents. It's way easier to send text messages because of the full qwerty slide out keyboard. having the ability to fully syncronize my outlook calendar & contacts with the phone, my home computer, and work computer is also a huge plus for me. If one of the computers or the phone takes a dump, I don't lose all my contacts and they simply get resynced. Plus, I can enter them all on my computer, along with people's picture and everything, rather than having to type them all into the phone by hand. I can connect to other computers or networks using bluetooth, wifi, or a USB cable. the nice large LCD touchscreen makes the interface easy to read and use.

I will agree with you guys on the "well all i need to do is use the phone and send text messages". My PDA phone started out as a toy, but now that I've had it for about a year I now find all the features to be extremely useful and worth the small cost difference between it and a regular cell phone.

Yeah, when you start using the PDAs and smartphones as such and not as status symbols, they end up being a great tool.

I use the camera on mine to grab shots of things when I'm not carrying a real camera, I don't listen to music on it, I use the calendar (a ton), and Google Maps on this thing is just like on the iPhone except you use a stylus ( i can call directly from the map)
