I was fat growing up. It wasn't because I was always inside though. My mom was constantly making pies and cookies and I can never resist a baked good.

kevin was chubby for a short period of time it looked like but i would have been to if i had a mom like yours

when i was 7-8 i developed what i have to this day a bit of a belly. ive got a natural almost pot belly even when i had an 8pack. i thank childhood sports for my metabolism. i gain weight super quick but im able to drop it even quicker.
but your kids being unhealthy is 100% the parents fault. but a lot of schools dont have physical education classes. if your school is hard up for cash what are you going to cut history or PE? changing the quality of everyday foods is nothing but a good thing in my opinion.

I think this belongs in the further pussification of america thread.

don't teach kids that they're fat because they're eating bad food.

don't teach parents that their kids are fat because they're feeding them bad food.

it's always someone else's fault.

I have no problem with companies making their foods healthier. If you want sweeter cereal, buy a box of sugar. And if you want to eat unhealthy stuff, we do have a thing call kitchen and butter.

This statement is absolute rubbish. Kids are fat because they're eating bad foods. This is why America has been collectively growing fatter since the 50's. Companies are finding ways to process foods with cheaper ingredients that contain less nutritional value and more sugar. The days of mom staying home and having dinner ready by the time dad gets home from work are over, mom's working 9-5. This means that she's going to buy a box of Hamburger Helper instead of making something from scratch that means there are no preservatives and unnecessarily processed food.

I am all for preventing the further pussification of america, but when this is a major shift in the quality of food that is AVAILABLE to america. I shop for groceries all the time and it's a lot easier for me to find foods that are pure shit than it is to find foods that are nutritional. Stores just don't carry good food anymore, they carry what sells and what's cheap.

Exactly. All you have to do is observe any super market in this fat land. When parents go to check out, what awaits them? A plethora of candy, chips and high fructose soft drinks filled with nutritionally void calories. Screaming sugar addicted kids are hard to ignore, especially when parents do not want to create a scene in front of the cashier and other shoppers. It is not so much the parents that are to blame so much as it is the nature of corporate marketing and a lack of time (as you pointed out). Parents are not lazy, they are tired and worn out from having to providing for their families in a declining economy.

kids arent naturally sugar addicted loonies who go crazy for candy. its parents who dont or cant say no and have little control over their childrens behavior and nutrition.

im all for food being of better quality but im an adult and if i want a candy bar i want to be able to get one. i wouldnt want that to change because its too tempting for kids.

Adults should still be able to purchase candy bars but I don't see why they should be placed in front of the cashiers. Children are not "loonies" but I do think a good many of them are addicted to sugar, tv and caffeine.
