A-10s can take similar damage and land, but they are meant for the lowers speed/ high lift wing capacity because of the close infantry support they provide.
Impressive that he landed it (flying with those two jet engines wasn't the hardest part i would imagine). -------------------- |

The A-10 just takes damage really well. The F-15 was designed to use its body as a wing which is why this one was still flyable. Had he had fuel in that wing tank, he probably would not have made it. Back then I don't think they were using the self-sealing tanks on the F-15s. Now it's pretty much standard.
My uncle has tons of stories from the first Gulf War and his experiences during training with wing loss and engine failures. What really impresses me is the recent Boeing 777 engine failure incident with Continental. The engine did exactly what it was supposed to during a massive failure, it seized up and the titanium interior kept the blades from entering the passenger cabin. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

I was just gonna say that the A-10 is probably the toughest jet ever made, but it looks like i was beaten to it. Still, one fucking wing is pretty amazing.
And Israeli pilots are pretty much the best in the world. -------------------- WAIT. I'm not finished.

(apparently america always beats them in war games, thats why i say "next to america") -------------------- |
