i didn't say flying cars and moon colonies, just dna crap which is getting more and more common (in all kinds of court cases all the time, you can even get a picture of your dna as "art" for your wall now http://www.dna11.com/ )

QUOTE
LATE last year, a 15-year-old boy rubbed a swab along the inside of his cheek, popped it into a vial and sent it off to an online genealogy DNA-testing service. But unlike most people who contact the service, he was not interested in sketching the far reaches of his family tree. His mother had conceived using donor sperm and he wanted to track down his genetic father.

Ummm... legally speaking, I don't think that sperm/egg donors are responsible for the offspring that result from their donations.

The only difference between some random crazy person doing this and your donates half child is that you cannot retort with a DNA check?

Yeah, I know. But even if the kid finds out who is father is through some freakin DNA thing, I still don't think the sperm donor would be obligated in any way, shape, or form. I think the donor signs away his rights (and responsibilities) to the kid when he donates.

But I'm ineligible for egg donation (genetic disorder), so I wouldn't know for sure.
