they were talking about it on espn. doesnt sound good. they had an undercover guy who has seen vick at dog fights, knows him, and has seen money exchanging hands. im assuming since hes undercover he has video or at least audio. but it also sounds like the investigators have what they need to charge him but are waiting for more evidence they think is out there to charge him with something greater. or i think possibly just trying to get him to name names.
the nfl is pretty much condeming dog fights of course and promises to aid the investigation in anyway and any nfl employee found to be guilty will receive prompt and severe punishment.
the falcons are being wishy washy and loving their michael vick so they are saying he came here in 06 or whenever and most of these charges are from before then.

but i found it really interesting. the investigator and the undercover said there seems to be wide spread dog fight gambling, training, abuse of animals within the nfl and possibly the nba. the undercover also saying vick is a "high roller" within the dog fighting ring betting 30-40k on a single fight

they arent saying oh he just bets every once in awhile or these players have seen dog fights. they are accusing them of owning dogs, abusing them, training them to fight (which as youre aware of is animal cruelty and horribly bloody) and running fights themselves. from the house vick owned though he claims he never goes there. 66 dogs were seized. he owns the house he is responsible for what goes on. even if his dead beat cousin was doing this behind his back (hard to imagine) he shouldnt be able to get away with anything

do you see him getting any stiff penalities if he doesnt get jail time? or will he just be another douchbag sports player who can sling drugs, beat women and kill animals and remain untouchable? but its not like he slapped around a loud mouth gold digging wife. he ran an illegal dog fighting ring with possibly over a hundred dogs and all the kind of other crimes that stem out of something like that?!
i dont think he'll get off totally unharmed by all this. atlanta is having a field day and he is supposedly on total lockdown by the falcons of course. its pretty clear they have enough evidence to charge him on running a dog fighting ring. if they win theres no way he'll just be able to walk out of court. i think people are tired of professional sports players behaving this way and getting away with it. theres supposedly not a lot of support for him right now in atlanta
on top of all this the police entered his home on a completely seperate drug investigation

I could see the NFL coming down tough on him. I'm not too sure how hard the legal system will treat, hopefully they will treat him like anyone else.

The whole Vick family just can't seem to stay out of trouble it seems.

my opinion:

if convicted, he'll probably do a little jail time and pay a fine

then he'll be suspended by the NFL, for how long...I don't know with the new commish.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AhfJ...p&type=lgns

If this is the report, then I suspect nothing has been brought against him because they said he was seen at a dog fight in 2000. Seven years ago. Shouldn't have sat on their hands all this time. The informant sounds kind of shady to me.

I think it was (former teammate) ray buchannon who said that when he played for the falcons then vick was always known on the team to be into dog fighting and would talk about it in the locker room, trying to get other players to go into it with him. He's already lost in the court of public opinion. He's nothing but a thug and this will trace back to him. If he gets lucky and doesn't do jail time I think Roger Gooddell will still suspend him for atleast 8 games for damaging the image of the NFL.

agreed Goodell had taken a hardline approach to any behavior that is close to negative. He will probably go for the maximum punishment. We need more commishs like him.

Vick Indicted

hes indicted and suspended from the falcons. but some gayness occured and after a visit said "vick promised to change his life"

QUOTE
The indictment said that in April 2007, Peace, Phillips and Vick "executed approximately eight dogs that did not perform well in 'testing' sessions by various methods, including hanging, drowning and/or slamming at least one dog's body to the ground." Vick also is alleged to have consulted with Peace before Peace killed a losing dog by electrocution in 2003.

he better get jail time. if he doesnt its obvious unfair treatment because of celebrity.

Because an indictment is equivalent to guilty, right?

uhhhhhhhh

no doubt hes guilty

when you are at a dogfight with an undercover and hand over money on video, they got you. not just for being a horrible person but for running a ring himself.

plus shit tons of blood evidence.

hes practically admitted it

I suppose. I guess I don't care as much because it's just some animals and not another human *shrug*

Oh well.

just some animals?

so you dont condone a man slamming a dogs head into the ground until he crushes it? or hanging an innocent, abused dog?

do you know practically every sociopath and serial killer has a background in animal abuse?

and if you dont have a shred of humanity you can put a human face on it. think of all the crime that occurs in dog fighting rings. most are attached to gang affiliations, illegal gambling, drugs.

plus the fact its a crime and he possibly broke several federal crimes

humanity and being a humane person means you see value in all living life. i dont understand how a good portion of humans think being a good person simply extends to other humans only

in my mind these crimes hes been indicted for are much more heinous than nearly anything else he could do other than rape and premeditated murder

and as far as the argument in the Pitbulls thread - this is why pitbulls have a bad rap. and suuuuuuuure its perfectly fair. yeah right.
god people are stupid

What I mean is, I see the man innocent until proven guilty in a court of law because it's just a bunch of animals. Had it been a case like that dude in Ohio that was a cop and killed the mother of his child, I'd say fry the bastard. If Vick is convicted, then yeah, lock his ass up.

That's cool. I was just explaining where it was coming from. I would never do it myself, but there's so many dogs out there that it's like stepping on a bug...no one's gonna miss it except the owner of the dog.

It takes a pretty sick person to torture and kill an animal. There are also studies suggesting that violence against animals may be an early sign of violence against humans: http://minnesota.publicradio.org/display/w.../animalkillers/

Have you read Vick's indictment? It's disturbing stuff. He executed dogs, electrocuted them, etc.
