Now don't get me wrong. I'm far from being a Bush fan boy. But is it just me, or does anyone else feel a bit flustered when some half brain dead blonde twit feels the need to get involved in politics and gets listened to because she's in a movie? Heh.... oh, and my favorite quote from the article: QUOTE "It's never been a problem for Bono," GG republicans "If you be like Bono, you'll be cool!" -------------------- Holy shit, pebkac, you're awesome! "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." - Theodor Seuss Geisel (AKA Dr. Seuss) "An idea that is not dangerous is unworthy of being called an idea at all." - Oscar Wilde |

What I find more ridiculous is the concept behind her "charity".
QUOTE The blond star of the film "The Dukes of Hazzard" still plans to visit Washington Thursday to lobby members of Congress on behalf of Operation Smile, a non-profit venture offering free plastic surgery for disadvantaged children overseas with facial deformities. I think that disadvantaged children overseas have bigger problems than needing freakin' plastic surgery! This post has been edited by Spectatrix: Mar 16 2006, 11:26 AM -------------------- |

yes, it never has been a problem for bono to waste the president's time bitching about how he doesn't delegate enough time and energy (see: money) to starving african kids. i guess overall national security or some guy that got stabbed to death 2 blocks from bono's hollywood mansion are less important than helping africa dig itself out of its aids/genocide hole.
she doesn't have to meet with him if she doesn't want to, especially at a political event that may affect her relationship with her charity. |

QUOTE (Spectatrix @ Mar 16 2006, 11:25 AM) What I find more ridiculous is the concept behind her "charity". I think that disadvantaged children overseas have bigger problems than needing freakin' plastic surgery! some of the kids that she is helping have horrible deformities that affect their quality of life. Perhaps some of them can hardly see or open their mouth. A lot of people in the US will pay to bring kids like this over to the US to get them plastic surgery to help them. I dont like her at all and I think she should stay out of politics, but I think its a good cause. I mean, sending money overseas to people is better, but their is no assurance that they will actually spend it on food. This way, they are drastically improving someone's life. |

i agree with some of the peoples sentiments. ive read about that charity and they had some shows about it on tlc and the like and believe its a reputable cause. how jessica simpson got involved is where im questioning 'what the fuck'
im also left wondering why this was made into a big deal is GW that big of a fan he got all booty hurt over it? -------------------- Little monkeys making money

Things like that tumor-faced girl? Ok, then that's cool. As long as they're not just getting nose jobs and such. I don't have a problem with her choice in this matter either. She just doesn't want herself or her organization to appear political. I don't think this is a case of a "half brain dead blonde twit" getting involved in politics... quite the opposite, really. Opposite with respect to her getting involved, perhaps not with respect to her being a twit. *shrugs* This post has been edited by Spectatrix: Mar 16 2006, 12:07 PM -------------------- |

QUOTE Simpson, 25, a Texas native who started out singing in her church choir, became a star on the Christian music circuit as a teenager and crossed over to the pop mainstream with her major-label debut album "Sweet Kisses" in 1999. She became an overnight MTV sensation in 2003 as co-star of a reality show chronicling her first year of wedlock with fellow pop vocalist Nick Lachey, but she filed for divorce in December after three stormy years of marriage. just in case anyone reading this has been in a coma for 7 years... -------------------- Forget regret

oh for some reason with Jessica Simpson on board i immediatley thought it was cosmetic.
As long as its removing defects that detract from things like eating or walking or sleeping or whatever i'm all for it. I just hope they offer it worldwide to underprivlidged kids and not just to 3rd world kids |
