I somewhat agree with you. I just dont trust some people in deciding how hard to execute physical punishment. Because of this, I dont think its ok. Some would get carried away and would cross the abuse line.

right, which is why teachers shouldn't do shit except send them to the principal.

principals are far enough removed from the volatility of the classroom to make a more objective determination of what kid of punishment should be delivered.

that old hag who smacked that little girl did so because she was "fed up" and upset at her. fuck that bitch, she can deal.

I don't think special needs children that young should be thrust in with everyone else. they need specific care.

i think that a teacher would know the line better than a parent who tends to spoil a child. what would have gotten my ass beaten off by my father would have earned my cousin a slap on the wrist. there needs to be a uniformity to the rules... if you wreck your 1st car, should your daddy get you a brand new one again? fuck no. because the kid doesn't learn a damn thing other than it's not a big deal to wreck the car. may be ok for the kid to fidget and disrupt everyone else at home, but that kid needs to learn to sit down, stop moving, so that everyone else can learn. everyone operates on the same rules. a lesson that most female little bitches NEVER learn.... like they are special or something.

btw, i agree, i didn't clarify in my past post that the teacher should never lay a hand on a student, but should know when to send said student to the principal for discipline

well, while i was in high school, we were doing subjects and material that my parents would have been doing in college.... is it hard to think that our children would be any different?

not at all.. but that's in subjects like math & science.

this is an excellent example, I mean, whether the kid is raised as someone who doesn't care if he wrecks 15 cars because his daddy will buy him another one, or his daddy never buys him a car at all and he has to earn it on his own. either way, the core values of the kid should be the parent's teaching, not the school's.

one thing though I do believe schools absolutely must help, is discipline and respect. we have to have stern rules at school and teachers willing to enforce them. when I was in jr. high, we had respect for the teachers, if they got pissed and told us to shuttup everyone did.

it's not so much "teachers willing to enforce them" as "teachers being ABLE" to enforce them. everybodys worried so much about thier own little angel being mistreated that they don't realise that their kid is being spoiled and not taught a DAMN thing about respect or discipline

I totally 100% agree that parents should teach their children values. BUT there are too many pieces of shit that don't teach their kids any values. That's why we have so much gang violence, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, etc. Parents don't want their schools teaching kids values, but then a large chunk of their parents don't teach their kids shit, so it's endangering my kids who have class with the kids who's parents don't give a fuck.

I cant believe some of you are saying that Brokeback Mountain is ok to show at school. Honestly, I think the only reason that Pebkac is saying that is because he himself is gay... yeah, I said it. Honestly, it is fucking ridiculous. If a kid wants to be gay, fine; but in my opinion the gay community is trying to rally as many people to their community as possible, as seen in this thread by Pebkac. What happened to letting kids be innocent minded? I can guarantee that if the teacher had shown some movie like Unfaithful Pebkac would be bitching. I dont think anything should be shown to children that is sexually suggestive. We have enough problems with teen pregnancy and high STD rates that we dont need to show sex at school. Get over your attitudes that kids need to see this kind of stuff to be educated on the outside world. Part of the fun of being a kid is the innocense that is associated with it. You can guarantee that I would go the school board and whoever else if my 8th grade family member had been shown that movie.

Have we met before? Because for someone I don't recall meeting, you sure do seem to know a lot about me.

And for the record, I've never seen Unfaithful, but I doubt I would care. Sex is just sex. Kids need to learn about it at an early age and be taught how to have safe sex at an early age. Whether you like it or not, there are kids in that class that have already had sex. You can't solve the STD and teen pregnancy problem by telling kids sex doesn't exist until you think they're ready.

All kids by 8th grade should be forced to have sex so they are "prepared" for it when they get into the real world.
