I had a friend who shot his sleeping dad in the head and killed him. He claimed the reason he did it was because he was sick of watching his dad beat the shit out of his mom. My friend was 12 when he shot his dad. I think he was released from prison when he was 21, but I never found out for sure.

I think the moral would be more along the lines of if you beat your wife, you might as well beat your kids into submission too.
