![]() saw this while browsing /b/ on 4chan.... looks like some kind of homemade pocket electromagnet, but i wanted a second opinion. (I recently saw some device the size of a pack of cigs that creates a cellular "black hole", a [illegal] jammer, was wondering if this might be something more along those lines.... still pretty sure it's just a magnet, but the caps instead of batteries got me wondering) -------------------- WAIT. I'm not finished.

to me it looks like a transformer/rectifier. Isee diodes and assume its a half bridge rectifier.

to me it looks like a transformer/rectifier. Isee diodes and assume its a half bridge rectifier. What's it transforming or rectifying? I don't see any i/o places. What about an EM detector (trying to justify the LED)? -------------------- Spam? Isn't that something poor people eat?

i bet its just a damn home made "shake it to charge it" LED flashlight. with that long coil, and looks like a decent sized cap on there too.
edit: found this thread, with included schematic, matches this thing pretty close http://www.discovercircuits.com/forum/show...an=0&page=0
