The Simulacrum - Philip K. Dick

--------------------
A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

The Hot Zone - Richard Preston

just now reading this book.

QUOTE
The dramatic and chilling story of an Ebola virus outbreak in a surburban Washington, D.C. laboratory, with descriptions of frightening historical epidemics of rare and lethal viruses. More hair-raising than anything Hollywood could think of, because it's all true.

finished the alchemist this morning

QUOTE
The charming tale of Santiago, a shepherd boy, who dreams of seeing the world, is compelling in its own right, but gains resonance through the many lessons Santiago learns during his adventures. He journeys from Spain to Morocco in search of worldly success, and eventually to Egypt, where a fateful encounter with an alchemist brings him at last to self-understanding and spiritual enlightenment

but i felt it was a bit on the formulazied side and im not too big on inspirational/hints of religiousness stuff
but i enjoyed it. calming nice story

Yesterday I finished reading Michael Crichton's A Case of Need. As with every other Crichton book I've read, I thought it was good up until the last 50 pages or so. His endings always feel off to me somehow.
