you cannot really transport a situation like that. this could stop violent conflict, or in less mature situations encourage the easily accessed violence over a petty dispute. the difference is, i KNOW i'm reliable and responsible, and DON"T know the other guy is reliable with a firearm....... i want the means to defend myself at ANY time against ANY threat. not just when the city says i can. the idea is it's better to have a gun and not need it, than to need a gun, and not have it. -------------------- |

Would you logically expand this right to carry a concealed handgun, in order to defend yourself, to federal buildings, airports, etc?
-------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

I like that in Utah any student with a permit is allowed to carry a concealed weapon on campus. Had VT had this policy, 32 deaths would not have occured. I think the rest of the country should follow their example. i dont trust utah. -------------------- |

They're designed in ways so that entry points are at a minimum and security is at a maximum. Campuses and cities in general are very open places without localized security forces or means of providing equal footing for everyone, i.e. metal detectors at entry points with security personnel within close proximity. Try harder. -------------------- Spam? Isn't that something poor people eat?

Fair enough. Double entry check points would not be overly difficult to implement in such places. Kind of like how Tarrant County Jail (and I'm sure other places, but this is the only one I've actually seen) has lockers outside the entry point for all LEO to store their weapons prior to entering the actual building but after entering the garage. -------------------- Spam?
