handymen, lawnworkers, field workers, car wash attendants, SOME maid services. anything inside a flea market. golf caddies, and all club security
that's only a few, and if you don't think that adds up to much, you're mistaken

nono, i wasnt saying descriptions, i was saying people, as in names.

I see this "don't allow resident alien to own a gun" propaganda as a serious threat, and discrimination against foreign nationals.

1. define "serious threat" please.

2. if you think this is discrimination, please feel free to visit other countries and see how it is (I believe jonathan already mentioned korea).

the reason I am not living in a beach house in nicaragua making what converts to monopoly money right now is because I would never be allowed to own a car. much less a firearm.

saw this posted elsewhere and thought it rather related to the issue of immigration and feeling guilted into acceptance...

europe is already overrun with radical muslims, and I wonder if we will be wise enough to take heed...probably not, since as it's pointed out to us we are a nation of imigrants.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALL EUROPEAN LIFE DIED IN AUSCHWITZ

By Sebastian Vilar Rodrigez (*)

I walked down the street in Barcelona, and suddenly discovered a terrible
truth - Europe died in Auschwitz.

We killed six million Jews and replaced them with 20 million Muslims. In
Auschwitz we burned a culture, thought, creativity, talent. We destroyed
the chosen people, truly chosen, because they produced great and wonderful
people who changed the world.

The contribution of this people is felt in all areas of life: science, art
international trade, and above all, as the conscience of the world. These
are the people we burned.

And under the pretense of tolerance, and because we wanted to prove to
ourselves that we were cured of the disease of racism, we opened our gates
to 20 million Muslims, who brought us stupidity and ignorance, religious
extremism and lack of tolerance, crime and poverty due to an unwillingness to work and support their families with pride.

They have turned our beautiful Spanish cities into the third world,
drowning in filth and crime.

Shut up in the apartments they receive free from the government, they plan
the murder and destruction of their naive hosts.

And thus, in our misery, we have exchanged culture for fanatical hatred,
creative skill for destructive skill, intelligence for backwardness and
superstition.

We have exchanged the pursuit of peace of the Jews of Europe and their
talent for hoping for a better future for their children, their determined
clinging to life because life is holy, for those who pursue death, for
people consumed by the desire for death for themselves and others, for our
children and theirs.

What a terrible mistake was made by miserable Europe.

can i get a gun in korea? no.
i can't even get a cell phone plan in korea.

i'm sorry, i like korea, but its a lot more racist and nationalistic than america. and very difficult for foreigners.

that's very true, here's a note about korean racism posted on facebook by a korean friend of mine that grew up in the states and went to visit korea

http://ttu.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=2...4210&ref=nf

QUOTE
This past weekend I went to dinner with a group of good friends. Great food and great company. we decided to go out to a club near the river. "night concert" to be exact.

In the old downtown, "Shinae," men will wear, literally wear signs on their backs advertising this club. Then there are other men who will snap cards out of their hands in the direction of where people are walking and may walk. Sometimes there is a popcorn machine and the tall guys, spiked up hair, will walk up to girls and try to hand them a bag of popcorn to entice them to go to that club. HOWEVER... if you are not korean, don't expect any popcorn or business card. I always wondered why they would come up to me if I walked there alone. BUT... if I'm with a foreigner, they'll ignore me... OR they'll specifically approach me and ONLY hand me a card.

WHY?

So... when we arrived at the club that saturday night, they said, "only koreans." I joked and said, "see ya guys." This was the only time I actually realized that looking korean would be beneficial. Of course I wouldn't go in without everyone, but just the thought of them denying foreigners....appalling. They did look at me, and when they realized I was american, they said no to me too.

SO... this racism in korea is real. The argument of it not being racism is crap... because it is. "oh, they're shy and don't want to speak in english..." good argument, but is that really what it is? I think not!

I've had many people smile at me, speak to me in korean and then when they find out I'm american... they stop smiling and ignore me. Hmm...

I know of one korean guy who admits to the racism. (Shocker?)

there are places that say "no foreigners." ive seen them.

and that whole "oh, they're shy and don't want to speak in english..."

hahahah i've heard that so many times. hmmm

btw, they dont admit to anything they think is embarassing to their country.

koreans will actually tell you that
1. prostitution does not exist in korea (lmao)
2. gays do not exist in korea

there are more but those are the ones i remember right now. oh, they also believe that if you leave the ceiling fan on...you'll die unless you open a window bc it sucks the air out of the room and you suffocate (i swear, ask any korean national this and they'll tell you its true!)

Imagine if somewhere in the US openly stated "no foreigners."

People where up in arms when that Philly Cheese steak place asked customers to order in English.

This entire discussion is dumb

I disagree wholeheartedly...I think it is a dialogue america needs to have...although many people fear having it.

since "it's dumb" please tell us why? if not, feel free to not chime in for the sake of boredom.

I think America needs to grow a backbone and declare the national language as English

Canada has two official languages... English and French. I think there are other countries like that, but none with no official language

A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

I like that in Utah any student with a permit is allowed to carry a concealed weapon on campus. Had VT had this policy, 32 deaths would not have occured. I think the rest of the country should follow their example.

you cannot really transport a situation like that.
this could stop violent conflict, or in less mature situations encourage the easily accessed violence over a petty dispute.
