it is true that he was mentally ill, but he was present of mind enough to send video and pictures to nbc, which means he was power-tripping off of it....I don't really feel that sorry for him. I mostly feel angry that he was taken to a mental health facility in 2005 and deemed a danger to others, then he was allowed to walk out of there with no apparent follow-up. Also, yahoo has pictures of two of the places where he purchased the guns from and it kind of sucks that he had access to guns in the first place.

To bad that after all the shit this fucker did before this we couldn't get him in the justice system enough to prevent him from getting guns.

If only his dumb ass could have off'ed himself first before deciding to kill others. Maybe there is a god and this fucker is getting a pineapple shoved up his ass right now, that'd be comforting.

What amazes me is that i've only heard this kid to have had 1 (maybe 2) pistols. And 9mm at that. How the fuck do you kill 30+ people with 9mm pistols?

I just want to know how it went down... Executions? Because especially with people running away, a 9mm bullet doesn't do much damage respectably. Just seems crazy to me that he had time to put as many bullets into people (reloading and all) it would seem to take to kill 30 people. Did No one try to throw a book and rush the fucker while he tried to get a new clip in?

The main part that saddens me is the fact that no one got to kill this shit bag because he did himself. When the fucker gets to kill himself its like he gets to complete his mission and have finality. I wish someone would have taken his death out of his hand and ruined SOMETHING in his plan...

most 9mm will have 15+ bullets per clip and he had at least 1 spare

He thought that what he did was something completely different than what it was. He thought it was him carrying out some master plan that he was ordained to do when in reality he was needlessly taking lives. I think that him sending those pictures, videos, and writings to NBC wasn't him power tripping off of his actions, but rather him attempting to explain his mission; but in reality all he was doing was rambling. NBC said that most of his 23 page dissertation made absolutely no sense. Clearly he was just a clinically ill person making incoherent ramblings. He didn't have a realistic perspective on life. It was all altered in his mind.

Why is that? I mean, in all the video tapes he rambles about Jesus Christ and being forced to do this and all other sorts of nonsense.

the more I hear his ramblings and read his drivel, the more I think this dude's emotional mentality was stunted at a young age, because his words reflect the mentality of a 13yr old...

I think he was emotionally retarded.

Don't know if you're cracking on History as a discipline or not, but I won't get into it here. rolleyes.gif

Anyways...

oh nah not cracking on history, just saying people don't tend to take history seriously if their major is something else.

He was mentally ill but I do not think "catching" it would have prevented violence from him. All we have to do is look at the past and see that even though folks know someone is sick and do something about it, the person is still able to carry out some sort of sick scheme. (Manson, Hinckley, etc.)

We can blame the parents, the authorities, etc. all we want but this guy would have done something bad no matter what. No matter how much we try to wrap our brains about how "preventable" something like this is, in reality, it isn't.

wrong...it was 100% preventable!

if we had correctly profiled him via his essays and had stricter gun laws this would have never happened!

I think that there are ways to TRY to prevent something like this. The most they did was put him in an institution for a couple of days back in 05

everything is easier to prevent in retrospect

they're gonna blame someone (police, administrators who didn't listen to the teachers, the mental institute, gun laws, etc.) for not preventing this.

it's bullshit, but this is america, where post occuring event, we gather all evidence, look at it, point the finger, and say it's your fault

i think it was just his lame justification because he had no other reasons. clearly the kid was a social retard, but he knew what he was doing

I've read some TTU history papers, and I'm surprised that they're even in college with their writing skills, even though they've lived here their entire lives.

yeah, but wasn't this kid an english major?
