considering I know nothing about guns, explain to me what the issue is with the 9 mm and the 0.22 cal?

the .22 is a small varmit round. very little penetration and small diameter. this round has never been used in a combat handgun. but well placed, it will kill. and it's highly accurate (many competition target guns are .22). my dad infused in me at a young age (12 when I got my first) that the .22 is the most dangerous round there is...because people are less cautious with it.

the 9mm is a bigger/combat round, but smaller than other combat rounds. the common gripe with LEOs and troops is that it does not have enough "knockdown power". but that is for combat applications (movement, armor, distance). under normal conditions it will kill just as well. it is currently the main sidearm round for the mil. (the larger .45 is reserved for spec ops units, where the sidearm is not a "backup", but rather a secondary offensive weapon).

I am admittedly not a fan of the 9mm I carried and was stoked when we got the .45acp MEUSOC.

but I'd say this massacre is a pretty good testament to the lethality of the 9mm. besides, since it's a smaller round, it carries more in it's magazine, making reloads fewer in between.

I have a friend who took 3 .45s center mass, both lungs punctured, liver split in two, small intestine, etc. etc... he walked out of hospital less than a week later.

So the answer to your question i guess would be no, but i've seen bigger calibers .

jesus...is your friend the hulk?

was he wearing armor?

i'd say lucky more than hulk

and yeah 15 round clips for 9mm are extremely common. most people's reasoning behind purchasing a 9mm is for the capacity

Yea seriously. Just because your friend got shot with a 45 and lived doesn't mean the 9mm is a round that won't kill you. Normally 1 45 will kill you, that's why you get them to kill someone in one shot.

Yall do realize that if this happened here, it would have gone down the same way, right? You've seen how long it takes them to decide to cancel classes and then once they do get that message out - I'm thinking back to when they cancelled classes at like 3 and the e-mail didn't go out until after 3. Then there's the fact that a school's responsibility is to educate the students. They can't shut down a school of that size just because someone died. There's 20k+ other students that are still there to learn.

For comparison, that'd be like shutting down a small city because of one death. How many do you know of that get shut down over a murder? Hell, even my hometown with a population of like 8000 hasn't shut down over any of the murders we've had there.

Media and everyone else needs to quit blaming the school for this. Only person at fault was the shooter and he's dead now. Mourn and move on.
The chief said it during hte press conference.

Anyone who disagrees with this is unrealistic.

I was talking to a few of my Korean friends who are living in Korea, and they said that it's huge and shocking news over there as well. They couldn't believe that a Korean would do something like this, etc.

I'm sure their whole country is very embarrassed by this. A huge example of loss of face.

It's so sad to think that some of those seniors were less than a month away from graduation...

The killer left a long disturbing note behind that says in summary "you made me do this", perhaps we will get some answers.
