Wha...? Science explains the Why and Religion the How...? Huh? Why are many religious debates based around the concept of "Why are we here"? Whoops, I flipped flopped them Science explains how and religion explains why. -------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

I read it, I just think it is a stupid argument.
When I was a Christian I tended to believe that books like Genesis, revelation, etc were mainly symbolic and should not be taken literally. I read it, I just think it is a stupid argument. When I was a Christian I tended to believe that books like Genesis, revelation, etc were mainly symbolic and should not be taken literally. so you think mine is a stupid argument yet you were the one that took everything as symbolic? my arguement wasnt stupid. You probably just dont understand *pat* you are saying that things evolved from one another and that god could have started it Are you thinking that the word "create" in the Bible is being used metaphorically/symbolically? Thats a really idiotic assumption if you ask me. As earlier stated, the word "created" implies something from nothing. Evolution is solid in that things EVOLVE FROM OTHER THINGS... IE HUMANS EVOLVED FROM APES so on and so on. It specifically says in the King James version of the Bible (which I realize is a translation from the Hebrew version, but in their version they use a word meaning the exact same thing) that God CREATED Adam and he MADE Eve from Adam, meaning that Eve was not created because God used a rib from Adam. If you want to take the Bible as symbolic, thats fine; but to tie evolution and creation together is really stupid in my opinion. Even though evolution does not explain how the world began, it does explain how single-celled organisms developed into animals/plants/humans/etc which is completely contradictory to the word CREATE |

there is proof of dinosaurs => creationism cant be true how so? the bible says that animals (like reptiles, etc.) were created...and dinosaurs were reptiles. they were probably extinct before the 6th day when man was created (on the theory that each day was not a 24 hours as it is now). -------------------- ![]() |

Here we go assuming the first meaning of create is the only. Im sorry, but its pretty idiotic in my opinion to keep throwing in those types of comments. Maybe God is just symbolic of a table. Maybe the first meaning of "god" was really "table" Dumb. even the hebrew version which was written in the time of moses specifically said a word that meant "something from nothing" |

Kudos. I really don't care since I don't even believe in that book of fairy tales, but I see your point. Maybe symbolic was the wrong word choice. Perhaps ignorance on the part of ancient peoples who created god in the first place. -------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this?
