QUOTE A student has been suspended from school in America for coming to class dressed as a pirate.
But the disciplinary action has provoked controversy – because the student says that the ban violates his rights, as the pirate costume is part of his religion. Bryan Killian says that he follows the Pastafarian religion, and that as a crucial part of his faith, he must wear 'full pirate regalia' as prescribed in the holy texts of Pastafarianism. The school, however, say that his pirate garb was disruptive. -------------------- |

we used to dress up in funny shit on the days we had cross country races in high school.
that all came to an end when like 8 of us who had a class together (guys) got slutty female pirate costumes and wore them. funny how we weren't able to dress in drag, but it was okay for girls to do it. oh well, our picture made it into the denver post, so it was worth it. |

With a name like Pastafarian, I would have assumed they would have to dress up like Mario or Luigi.

If I can't legally consume peyote for my "religion" than this kid should not be allowed to dress as a pirate.

Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

Seriously though, this isn't a huge shock... I'm pretty sure the federal government has a pretty strict standard of what it considers a religion. It has to be over 1,000 years old, etc.
