Apparently Pride FC has been bought by the people who own UFC. If this is true it could be interesting. Bring every one under one roof or keep them separate entities?

I think they will keep them separate entities, each with their own unique style. Don't be suprised though if you see some inter-promotional fights now (like they did back in 2001, I think). MIRKO "CRO-COP" FILOPIC ( once he becomes UFC heavyweight champion) VS. FEDOR EMELIANENKO (PrideFC Heavyweight Champion) for the undisputed heavyweight title of the world! -------------------- |

Yeah that's what I would expect. It would definitely provide for some interesting matches. Fedor vs Cro-Cop 2 would be great, especially it if its undisputed heavyweight of the world. -------------------- death to false dudes

I was wondering how long it would be before White finally ponied up the cash to get Pride.

I just hope Pride doesn't take a turn for the commercial like UFC unfortunately has.
I mean I can resepect the WWE as an entertainment venue but if either UFC or Pride ever sinks to that level i'd probably dunk my head in a bucket full of fire ants |

Pride apparently needs to become more commercial because it has been rumored that its not doing well and been close to bankrupt for awhile. That's probably one of the reasons why its being sold. If the UFC wasn't as big as it is now it wouldn't have been able to bring over Cro Cop and Rampage to the US.
Some Fertitta brothers were the people who bought pride. They own the majority of Zuffa. White only owns 10%. Unrelated to this but Butterbean is fighting in the next Pride event. That should be funny. -------------------- death to false dudes

I understand the need for advertising and shit like that, what I don't understand is glorifying fighters like they are some kind of super heroes and having fireworks and OMG TEH BIG FIGHT BETWEEN LARRY "THE MANIAC MONSTER MASH MONSTER MONSTER" BALLZAC VS. YAKOV "RUSSIAN SENSATION STATION CHOO CHOO TRAIN" SMIRNOV *Intro music* *Flexing at the crowds* *drinks a cola, label out*

Actually the Japanese people wouldn't go crazy. They are a very sedated crowd. Its kind of odd to watch Pride fights because it can be almost dead silent in a stadium of 70,000 people.

I love that the Japanese crowds don't generally boo fights. They actually enjoy the ground game too, unlike here in America. If a fight in the US hits the ground, you have about 10 seconds befoe the crowd starts booing. -------------------- |

I think sometimes in UFC they don't stand them up quickly enough. Like the Heath Herring fight in the last UFC event. The other guy realized Herring was tired and behind in points so he layed on top of Herring for a round and a half to get the decision. I guess that's good strategy, but its boring.

At the same time its kind of good sportsmanship...a lot like in other sports where you put your 18th string in if your tearing the fuck out of them. Besides, if you know you have the win, why fuck the guy up any more and possibly hurt yourself? -------------------- Brandon....you're the reason I'm pro-choice.

In theory, but with one slip up and you can be submitted or knocked out in seconds - no matter how much you dominated the fight previously.
