I am so sick and tired of this thing I could scream...

Apple products are garbage even in this day and age. They try to "idiot proof" everything so much their products just are completley useless.

For instance, my iPod locks up on me like every other time I plug it into my computer.

I have to let the battery run ALL THE WAY DOWN so it will shut itself off so I can "reset it" so I can use it again.

What in the HELL is wrong with putting a manual shut off switch on this thing so if it does lock up you can fucking restart it and don't have to wait 8 hours to use it again?

Does anyone know if there is any way at all to manually shut this stupid thing off to restart it so I can actually use it or am I screwed for the next 8 hours?

Can't you just hold play and select for 6 seconds?

Before you do that, place it to hold for ten seconds and then back to un-hold.

put it on hold for a little bit then take it off. It will sit for a few minutes and then shut off.

play + select worked.

now if the thing would update.

it is taking it 10 fucking minutes to send a PLAYLIST from my computer.

and apple wonders why PC's and Windows still own the entire market....

actually my 60gb video has the same problem.

sometimes it locks up and i have to wait for the battery to die down, it sucks.

and yes, i know about holding the the play button, etc. and it doesnt work. most of the time it does, but a lot of the time it doesn't.

I seriously may have met less than five people who have owned iPods (NOT shuffles or nanos, those seem great) and not had all kinds of problems.

How are these things so popular ! The crazy majority have to get something replaced in less than 2 years of use, or it just dies on them or some other slew of problems.

It's the hard drive; the iPod models that have the least problems utilize solid-state (flash) memory.

Oh I know. But most people don't realize that.

It still doesn't answer why everybody is willing to pay those stupid prices for a product with such a high failure rate, and bad compatibility with multiple PCs unless you reflash it.
