zach..

i understand your concern for your friend's child

if it were my friend i'd have the same feeling

but posting it here on techsans probably wasn't a good idea in the first place...this isn't a forum for seriousness

most of the threads end up in childish arguments, namecalling, and poking fun

I know.

My bad for thinking anyone on this site is, or will ever be, an adult.

It doesn't matter if it was a friend's child or not. If it was inappropriate it should have been removed.

However, what does matter is that he used the excuse of "Friend's child" to remove it instead of it being inappropriate.

Do we remove the fag jokes because Duane is gay? Or the sexist jokes because Jessica, Christine, and Cathryn are women? What about the mexican or black jokes?

Where do you cut off the line between personal and inappropriate? Instead of caring that it hits at home, why don't you care about the actual content?

I think that the comment should have been removed if it warrented a removal. If it was very inappropriate, then it shouldn't be there. However, it was only removed because your friend (and you via proxy) were involved, then that's just childish and abuse of power.

it was inappropriate. it's just that inappropriate is commonplace for some on these boards....zach is not one fo them, but I am....admittedly.

Then hold a common standard of what is and isn't allowed.

Oh, I'm sorry that you were unable to remove yourself from it personally and look at it objectively.

But, if you can't take that out, then whatever. Even if your motivations were wrong, the action was right. Only, this time, the end didn't justify the means.

It is if you won't give the exact same treatment to the other types of posts.

If you only do something because you have personal investments then, well, I think I've already said how I feel about this.

In a position of authority you have two roads you can go down:

1.) You set a standard and follow this. If something is inappropriate then it's gone, regardless if you think it should or shouldn't go. If it's not, then it stays.

2.) You don't have a set standard and you only do things on a personal whim. You make brash decisions and lose respect as that authority figure and jeopardize your position entirely.

That's how it goes.

I love how several of you babies are getting your panties so tightly in a wad over this.

If only people were this passionate about REAL politics instead of just internet forum politics.

Yet you are the one who made the edit, so you obviously were big enough of a baby to care the most.

And if you think that a non-serious forum is indicative of how people take REAL politics then, yah, GG.

Yet, you don't care that someone makes a joke about a microwaved baby? Or anything along those lines?

Inappropriate vs. Personal Feelings.

Again, look at it that way. If it was inappropriate, it deserved to go. If not, then it didn't. Whether or not you are "caring about a friend's child who was kidnapped" is regardless as it doesn't make something worse.
