people can ego-trip on any subject...BELIEVE me. Philosophy probably does question too much, but I like philosophy...that's why it's my minor. I have known people of many majors though, who totally powertrip on everything from computer programming to exercise sports sciences. Philosophy does ask some very good questions, but I try not to take it too seriously....especially existentialism, which seems to be the one field that everyone thinks they know something about. I think that people perceive it as this really intellectual, interesting topic, but I think its pretty much a joke.

I admit to ego trippin in whatever multicultural course I had to take in the mass comm dept. It was like a speech req?
anyway everyone in there was your run of the mill frat/sorority kid who've never really been anywhere except maybe cancun or their aunts in minnesota. it's hard to sit quiet when you hear rampant ignorance spew from the suck of some 19yr old chick from Round Rock... I'm sure they just thought I was conceited. but what the hell are you supposed to do when you're discussing african tribes and the civil wars and they're talking out their ass, but you've been there and witnessed the genocide and whatnot firsthand? just sit there and let them feel good about themselves? can't do it. |
