I just think its totally fucking pathetic to be bitching about the same thing for 3 fucking years and not be actively doing anything to fix the problem. Posting on an internet forum does not count.

Additionally, Im not voting until we get a new voting system where I can live in a predominately democratic or republican state and still have my vote count if I chose to not vote with the the majority in my state.

I completly agree, saying stuff on the internet does not really accomplish much at all, but I like to debate. Bitching and debating are two different things...

I also agree with your second point, the electoral system in America sucks ass. We need to get rid of the electoral college...

A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

QUOTE (Jessica @ Jan 15 2007, 11:56 AM) *
I have read history and I know what went on during the reign of Stalin; however to call the Holocaust "a cakewalk" in comparison is complete ignorance. Yes, most of the Jews were killed in gas chambers, etc, but on the other hand many died a way more gruesome death. Why dont you read a little bit of history. Trust me, Stalin was in the back of my mind when I said that the Holocaust was the most tragic modern event. Of course that can be argued. Everyone has their opinion, but you dont call the Holocaust a damn cakewalk.

history is filled with violence and bloodshed. you're the one that has been putting emphasis of one horrific even above all others. and i do read history. i tutored the damn subject. but then again, we can't expect you to make rational decisions, after all, you knew your degree was useless and still paid for it anyway.

I do not think philosophy is useless. However, Jessica has admitted to squandering her education and so I think in her particular case philosophy has been useless.

But it's not like she's not going back to school for something that potentially may be very lucrative.
